Bugs and minor inconveniences with TSLRCM 1.8

Recommended Posts

Simple error, as it would appear as though my game has remained relatively bug free for me for the entirety of my playthrough (unless those quests I couldn't complete weren't because I probably wasn't looking hard enough...) but my error just happened today as I was at the Trayus Core. I beat Kreia, both times, went through most of the dialogue tree after her defeat, and she died. But upon her death, I'm now stuck in the Core. I've gathered there was a pre-rendered cutscene that was supposed to trigger that did not, but as it stands I can wander around the core, loot the three bodies on the edges of the map, and can't really leave or do anything else. Wut do?

Additional info: I'm running 1.8.2, on a fresh install of both the game and the mod, having never played the game prior. I used the patcher provided with the download, and it did not report errors. I don't have any mods other than the TSL mod. I haven't tried re-downloading the mod, as it seemed a bit counter productive considering how far I am in the game, and I haven't tried a new game because that would then require another 44+ hours of gameplay to determine if I have the same bug, and I don't feel like playing the game a second time for that reason alone. I haven't used a new save yet, though I was planning on running through the last stretch of the game a second time on a different save that I made just to see if I could replicate the bug.

Not sure if this is to do with TSLRCM 1.8.2, but whenever I use stealth, or whenever I see a sith assassin, the stealth is all messed up, Normally stealth is see-through, but for me it's like it's turning off all of the time, that flashing of different parts like a sort of white/grey colour. If anyone knows what this is please help me fix it. I hope it's just me so that nothing to do with it has to be changed!

Thanks!

Slim Killer: a few questions for you . . .

1) What version of TSL id you install, the 4 CD version, a Steam download, or the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Collection (i.e. the one that's bundled with the original KotOR on a single DVD)?

2) Do you have a save on Malachor V prior to entering the Trayus Core to confront Kreia? If so, could you play through from that previous save and report your results?

Or upload it here?

1. I have the steam version.

2. Yes, I have a save in the Trayus Academy, that's the one I was referencing for my fall back. I will upload it, once I figure out how to do so.

I've encountered a bug that is preventing me from progressing beyond the cutscene that is meant to take place between Carth Onasi and the Exile. After I leave the Ravager, I get taken to the area on Citadel Station where I'm meant to speak to Carth. However, instead of a cutscene triggering with Lieutenant Grenn, I am instead free to walk around the area. I cannot begin a conversation with Grenn, and I cannot trigger the cutscene.

Here is a list of the mods I have installled:

  1. TSLRCM 1.8.2
  2. M4-78EP
  3. My Dantooine Statue (http://deadlystream.com/forum/topic/1160-my-dantooine-statue/)

  10. New Mandalorian Banner Fix (http://deadlystream.com/forum/topic/1252-new-mandalorian-banner-fix/?pid=13295&do=findComment&comment=13295)
  11. Movement Animation Fix (http://knightsoftheoldrepublic.filefront.com/file/Movement_Animation_Fix_for_KOTOR_TSL;105781)
  12. Canonical Jedi Exile (http://deadlystream.com/forum/topic/1360-downloadcanonical-jedi-exile/)
  13. Nihilus Zombie's Death (http://deadlystream.com/forum/files/file/196-nihilus-zombies-death/)

  17. Kinrath Egg Bash Crystal Drop (http://deadlystream.com/forum/files/file/167-kinrath-egg-bash-crystal-drop/)
  18. Admirality Mod + Compatibility Patch (http://deadlystream.com/forum/files/file/208-tslrcm-compatibility-patch-for-jingers-admiralty-mod/)
  19. Sith Holocron Retexture (http://deadlystream.com/forum/files/file/283-new-texture-of-holocrons-in-the-telos-secret-academy/)
  20. Blaster Pistol Enhancement (http://deadlystream.com/forum/files/file/315-blaster-pistol-ehancement/)
  21. HD Darth Nihilus (http://deadlystream.com/forum/files/file/367-darth-sapiens-presents-hd-darth-nihilus/)
  22. Boma Beast Teeth Fix (http://deadlystream.com/forum/files/file/338-boma-beast-teeth-fix/)

If necessary, I can provide a save file from the moment before the Exile leaves the Ravager.

I honestly don't think the Admiralty mod works even with the compatibility patch.

Thanks for the reply Milestails. I just had a look on the support page for the Admiralty Mod Compatibity Patch, and it looks as though this issue has been reported before. It's such a shame it doesn't work as intended.

I've now since encountered another bug, this time at the beginning of Malachor V  (note: I am playing as a light side female Exile). After the Ebon Hawk exits hyperspace, there is a BIK video of the ship crashing onto the planets surface. Following this, an in game cutscene plays of Kreia entering the Trayus Core, where she kills some sith assassins and confronts Sion regarding her return to Malachor. After this cutscene, the BIK of the Ebon Hawk crashing onto Malachor V plays AGAIN. This BIK is then followed by a second ingame cutscene of Kreia and Sion talking in the Trayus Core. But this time their conversation is regarding Sion, and how he may have feelings for the female Exile.

So the order of cutscenes as it appeared in my game were:

  1. Ebon Hawk exits hyperspace over Malachor V
  2. Ebon Hawk crashes on Malachor V
  3. Kreia enters the Trayus Core, kills Sith assassins and confronts Sion
  4. Ebon Hawk crashes on Malachor V AGAIN
  5. Kreia is meditating in the Trayus Core, and she asks Sion if he has feelings for the female Exile, before saying she will break her

Should the cutscenes have been played in this order instead?:

  1. Ebon Hawk exits hyperspace over Malachor V
  2. Kreia enters the Trayus Core, kills Sith assassins and confronts Sion
  3. Ebon Hawk crashes on Malachor V
  4. Kreia is meditating in the Trayus Core, and she asks Sion if he has feelings for the female Exile, before saying she will break her

Yes... and that's also the order it plays out for me...

Well I'm glad it's not just my version that had this issue.

As I've been playing through Malachor V, I've noticed a few more bugs.

  1. When jedi Mira was falling to the ground after being knocked unconcious by Kreia during the confrontation in the Trayus Core, she activated the "Echani Shield" that she had equipped at the time. The shield was still activated when I rescued her and the others from the prison in the Trayus Proving Grounds.
  2. After Atton fled from Kreia in the Treyus Core, the confrontation he was meant to have with Sion did not trigger automatically. Instead, Sion was behind one of the pillars in the room, and I had to walk towards him and click on him to begin the conversation between Atton and Sion.
  3. During the light side end of the game, none of the BIK cutscenes played any sound. The ending was completely silent. However, if I went into the "Movies" section of the main menu and played the cutscenes from there, they had sound. I ran through the ending twice to check, and both times no sound was played. (Note: I have "Obsidian's High Quality Movie Patch" installed).

Might I suggest Silveredge9's Admiral Onasi Reskin as an alternative to the Admiralty mod?

Thank you for the link, though would this mod suffer from the same compatibilty issues that the Admirality mod had with TSLRCM?

I don't think you understood me.

The "Should the cutscenes have been played in this order instead?" is how it runs for me, no issue.

Whoops, it seems as though I misunderstood you   I don't think I have anything installed that should bug out that scene though.

Do you also suffer from any of the other bugs I mentioned in my last post? I may do a reinstall of TSL just to check if i haven't messed up the installation of something like TSLRCM. Though I just ran through all of the scenes I mentioned above again in the game, and the bugs I reported above also appeared again.

No, thought the 3rd bug is the 'fast forward dialogue' one...

Thanks for the reply. I'll make a backup of my saves and do a complete reinstall of TSL to see whats going on with my game :)

After a complete reinstalll of TSL + TSLRCM + M478EP, most of the issues I has seem to have been solved! I must have installed a mod wrong at some point!

Though I did notice a few bugs during my time reloading save files, during the flight to Malachor V:

  1. During the flight to Malachor V, where the crews thoughts can be read, the Ebon Hawk should be seen in hyperspace from the cockpit. Before this scene occurs, the Ebon Hawk can be seen entering hyperspace from Citadel Station, and after this scene, the Ebon Hawk exits Hyperspace and arrives at Malachor V. This is noticeable when Atton gives the lines "...wish I'd never met her, wish i died there, that the storms had dragged me down to Malachor V", as you can see a wall through the cockpit window, instead of Hyperspace.
  2. When Bao-Dur's thoughts are read during the flight to Malachor V, the camera does not focus on him. When he says "Your command echoes still, General. And I obey, as I did at Malachor V. Now Malachor V comes to us. And I wish to face it, this last time. You know where you must go. It calls to you still. And she must be stopped, there, now, or she will bring the screams of Malachor V to the galaxy - just as we carried the echo all this way", the camera is focused on an empty "Engine Room", instead of Bao-Dur in the "Garage".

1) Already fixed for 1.8.3.

2) Completely intentional.

Great news! Though can I ask why you decided not to focus the camera on Bao-Dur during this scene? I'm just curious :)

Silveredge9's mod just changes appearances; it doesn't mess with modules and whatnot.  Compare the files in that mod with the Admiralty mod to see what I mean.

Because it's rather unsure what happens to Bao-Dur. If we just display him it might change the actual interpretation of Obsidian. So instead, he's not shown. Is he on board, is he alive, where is he... it's intentionally kept ambiguous...

Thanks Milestails! I've just installed the mod and loaded a save file just before the Exile encounters Carth, and the mod works perfectly!

That makes sense. I had heard somewhere that Bao-Dur was originally supposed to die at some point in the story, possibly while helping HK-47 reach the droid factory, or something like that. Thanks for the explanation Hassat!

Bao-Dur was intended to die during the Battle of Telos IV, while helping HK-47 reach and shut down the HK Factory.

Hi,

So I did the next part here, and got down to Iziz and completed everything there. Then I talk to the Jedi Master there and get the cinematic for the trip back to Dxun, and I get a blank screen.

Upon seeing that, I did kind of cheat a little, and used that same warp 402dxn trick to get back to Dxun, and that works fine (ie, the logbook still says my quest is completed etc...), but I can't actually get off Dxun.

It seems to me like my save file broke the Dxun landing part somehow.

Anyway, I just thought I'd ask if you could share me another little cheap-jump-code to get me back onto the Ebon Hawk for now so I can continue my main save file. I'd really like to finish the game I'm on right now (I've never actually played Kotor II before, and I'm enjoying the story play out :) ), before I play a 2nd playthrough to see if I can replicate this issue.

Many thanks,

Must not be using TSLRCM properly then, or another mod modifying it, unfixing our stuff.

@ Butlee; Odd, though I heard of it once before.
Try enabling cheatcodes (CheatsEnabled=1 under gameplay options in the ini IIRC) then ingame use ~ to call the invisible console and type

warp 402dxn

Bao-Dur was intended to die during the Battle of Telos IV, while helping HK-47 reach and shut down the HK Factory.

Which was only based on an interview with Avellone years later, filled with "maybes" and "if I recall correct", so, yeah, it might not been the original intention at all.

@Butlee;

warp 003ebo
