Mandalore 61 Posted July 31, 2012 Just saw the announcement that ToR's going free in Autumn. Now I think I'll start the trial, and continue it then.
Hassat Hunter 571 Posted July 31, 2012 Linkie? All I know it's free to lvl 15 now... can't bother to boot it to continue with my Sentinel just now though...
zbyl2 811 Posted July 31, 2012 Linkie: http://www.swtor.com/info/news/press-release/20120731 Not exactly sure what "restrictions" on F2P are, though. By the way I'm surprised it's going free to play already, I was expecting it but... not so soon. Might give it a go once it's available and M4-78EP is done. EDIT: ah, here's about those restrictions: http://www.swtor.com/free/features You can play trough class story just fine. You're limited when it comes to warzones (they suck so I don't care), space combat (it's boring so I don't care) and flashpoints. Now flashpoints I sort of do care about, as they were pretty interesting. Some of them, anyway. But it says free players are going to be limited about "how many they can do per week" - so we'll see what the precise number is, it may not be bad. And travel features are limited in some way... now that certainly sucks. Even with all possible travel features (taxis, mounts, fast travel skill) it still often took looooong time to get from point A to point B.
Hassat Hunter 571 Posted July 31, 2012 Assuming it's the same as Team Fortress 2 somewhat. No chatting (Yay instances for 2,3,4 person... NOT) like the free trial, no trading, no getting on the market, that kind of restrictions. EDIT: Editing is cheating! *reads restriction page* Me, not surprised. MMO's look like a goldmine to producers and devs, but they generally are not. WoW blinds a lot of people from reality.
Mandalore 61 Posted August 2, 2012 Ammendment to my original plan: I won't be playing it at all, because the downloaded installer doesn't work with my hard drive (it's made to install to C:\ but mine is I:\ after it died).

You also do get to trade, and you only get a few sell slots on the market so the f2p doesn't run the economy into the ground, which is a great thing. Hassat Hunter 571 Posted August 4, 2012 With the free trial I tried some time back I couldn't chat. But apparently (fortunately) not the case for true F2P so it looks. Haven't checked on the "free till lvl 15" that's running now...
