btsy22 0 Posted January 13, 2021 probably a noob question but i recently got the game and downloaded a HD portraits mod but it doesn't match bao dur because i gave him a custom texture in paint.net, so it's kind of bothering me. what i'm trying to do is open his HD portrait file from the mod so i can edit it to fit the retexture. however the files are in .tpc format and i have no idea how to open these. i tried just opening it in paint.net but it didnt work. unrelated question: i'm also not sure how i go about opening .mdx and .mdl files as well, so if i could get the answer for that as well that'd be great. cheers. ajdrenter 40 Posted January 13, 2021 Grab xoreos tools which includes a converter for various formats (inlcuding tpc) to tga. Get it here: https://xoreos.org/downloads/index.html
DarthParametric 3,784 Posted January 13, 2021 No, Xoreos Tools doesn't properly convert all textures. The best solution is to use ndix UR's TPCView - https://deadlystream.com/files/file/1552-tpcview Not only does it correctly convert them, but it also exports a TXI for any texture that needs it. To mass convert, select the TPCs, drag them over the TPCView window, hold down the ALT key, and release.

I can finally say goodbye to xoreos and your batch script LOL.
DrMcCoy 40 Posted January 14, 2021 Yeah, xoreos-tools lacks support for animated textures, for example. It also doesn't export the TXI information. And it can't convert textures back to TPC. That's all in the TODO still. We do take patches and pull requests, though

DarthParametric 3,784 Posted January 16, 2021 What you quoted tells you exactly how to convert to TGA.

DarthParametric 3,784 Posted January 16, 2021 You aren't doing it right. Left click drag a TPC over the window. Don't let go of the mouse button. Now hold down the ALT key. You'll see a message bar on the window pop up saying Export TGA. Now let go of the mouse button.
