Issues with Kotor Tool and Windows 10?

I recently returned to a modding project I'd started several months ago, and Kotor Tool isn't working on either my laptop or my desktop. I'm running the most recent update of Windows 10 (version 1607) on both systems. I've tried rebooting, uninstalling, and reinstalling in every possible arrangement I can think of.

 

I always get this error:

Is anyone else having this error? Does anyone have any guidance on how to fix this?

You could try running it in compatibility mode for XP or Win 7.

It's giving an issue when trying to load the settings.xml file.

 

In addition to what Darth Parametric says above, you might also try erasing the settings.xml file (located wherever you installed KotOR Tool) and then opening KotOR tool again. This will "reset" KT as if you have never used it before.
