Movie Crash

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I have the problem that kotor 2 crashes whenever a movie is played.

The good thing is that after disabling movies in the setting, everything works.

The bad thing is that, of course, I cannot see the movies.

It seems that I am not the only one to encounter this problem,

and I have tried a couple of things that have been suggested to fix it but without success.

Now, I have given up trying to see the movies in the game.

So my first question is, how important are they for the story?

(I have played the game some years ago but can't remember much of it

expect that the beginning was quite good and the end rather confusing.

That's why I am playing it again, now with the restored contend mod.)

I have found all the movies on youtube so in principle it is possible to watch them.

However, there is the problem that they just appear one after the other,

and I have no idea how to find the one that is supposed to be played at a particular point of the game.

I even guess that the order in which they would appear in the game depend on the decisions that I make during the game.

Do you have any advice how to find and watch the right movie which is supposed to be played at a particular point of the game?

Right-click the game's executable and go to the Compability tab. Then check "Deactivate Visual Designs", "Deactivate Desktop..." and "Deactivate high DPI Scaling". Those options might be called differently though as I'm only translating them from my German Windows version.

I did that for my K1 and it fixed the movie crashing issue.

I tried this, but with those two boxes checked the game does not launch at all.

If I check all the boxes in the compatibility tab, then it launches but still crashes at the intro.

Thank you for your help anyway.

(BTW I am German as well, so I am quite sure I got the right boxes.)
