I'm just wondering if the M4-78EP project is still active, considering that it no longer appears to have its own subforum on this site. That, and I haven't been keeping track perhaps as much as I should have been. What's up?

There is new version called M4-78EP currently in development which will be compatible. (We'll let you know when it's ready. Trust us!) My bad. Requesting thread lock/deletion.

So your question is a valid one. Even being a part of the inner circle of ultra super modders (yey), I don't even really know what's going on with the M478EP, though I have heard that it's being started up again.
