MeToLee 0 Posted July 3, 2015 Hello dear modders. I'm hoping you can help me with my problem. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this so I apologize in advance if it's not. I have both Kotor games and they are both retail versions which I finished so many times so I decided to make some tweaks with Kotor Tool so I can finish them a hundred times more. Well it seemed like a good idea at the time but after days and nights trying to figure out what's the problem now I'm not so sure anymore. Anyway here is my problem: When ever I open Kotor Tool a "Path cannot be null" error appears on my screen. So naturally I did some research at Google on the subject and found some instructions for how to fix the problem. First thing I did was make sure that Kotor Tool paths were right which they were. After that I found something that I hope would be the solution for my problem which advise me to install .Net Framework 1.1. So deleted the Kotor Tool and installed .Net Framework 1.1 then installed Kotor Tool again but same thing happened again. So I found another post that told me to install .Net Framework 2.0. I uninstalled Kotor Tool again just to be safe and installed .Net Framework 2.0 then installed Kotor Tool back again. But I still got the same error message. After that I found some other posts that told me to find correct paths with Regedit which I did but it still gave me the same error. I can safely ignore that message and press continue but while RIMs & ERFs works and expands for both of the games I can't expand the BIF trees for either of them. I got another message saying that "Path cannot be null". So Basically I tried everything I can find but couldn't get a result. I would be very grateful if anyone can help me. Malkior 476 Posted July 3, 2015 Quick question. Is this copy of Kotor the 4 Disk version or the Steam one?
Fair Strides 509 Posted July 4, 2015 You might try erasing your settings.xml file in the KotOR Tool directory. Also, have you tried installing just the .NET Framework 1.1 Redistributable? As to your paths, what are your paths for the games? Lastly, what is your OS and is it 32-bit or 64-bit?
MeToLee 0 Posted July 4, 2015 I installed the .NET Framework 1.1 Redistributable but it didn't work. Games path are D:\Installed Games\KoTOR Collection (they're both in seperate folders called Kotor I/II) OS windows 7 64 bit.
Fair Strides 509 Posted July 4, 2015 Okay, that explains it a little bit... You have the Collection, not the original 4CD version. And can you tell me what you put in for the Registry for both games?
MeToLee 0 Posted July 4, 2015 It is 4 cds but I just installed it in a different folder where I put all my beloved old games. I don't understand what you mean by "what I put in Registry for both games" can you please elaborate? If you mean the "Regedit" step I found in the forums I wanted to set the Path as install folder but it was already set like that. D:\Installed Games\KoTOR Collection\Kotor I D:\Installed Games\KoTOR Collection\Kotor II
Fair Strides 509 Posted July 4, 2015 Okay, and in this folder is there a folder called "data"? The .bif files are located there. Have you tried uninstalling a game and then seeing if the issue still applies to the other game? If that happens, you might try taking the space out of the "Kotor I" or "Kotor II" part. MeToLee 0 Posted July 4, 2015 Yes data folder is there and its full of .bif files. They're mocking me singing "can't touch this." I uninstalled and reinstalled both games many times. I tried what you said about taking the space out but it didn't work. I guess I'm out of luck huh?
Fair Strides 509 Posted July 4, 2015 Okay, question before recommendation: Did you ever restart your computer after you installed anything? Recommendation: Try installing the games in their default location, and KT in its default location. And restart before trying anything.

MeToLee 0 Posted July 4, 2015 I did as you said but it still the same Funny thing. I just wanted to remove light side restriction from Revan's robe and maybe start to do some other things if I succeed. I asked myself "how hard can it be?" Kotor Tool sure showed me.
