Is it worth it to install 1.8.3?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. Just joined to get some help: I read that 1.8.3 requires a reinstall of the game. Thing is, i downloaded and installed the game with 1.8.2 in advance way earlier this year so whenever i was ready to play it i could just start playing whenever. But some time after that, 1.8.3 came out. I recall having to jump through some hoops to get the game properly working with a widescreen patch and i don't really remember what i did to get everything working. On top of all that, i'd have to re-download the game with my not so great download speed and most likely start a new game (finished Peragus and i have no desire to do it again) to avoid any problems.

I'm avoiding the patch notes because i'm afraid there may be spoilers there. Does 1.8.3 fix any broken quests, game breaking bugs, etc? or does it just fix a bunch of minor annoyances?

We can't help you if you get any errors/bugs, if you stick to 1.8.2. Frankly, it's just not worth the headache: get 1.8.3 (the "whole" 127 MB), vanilla your game (meaning uninstall, manually remove all that remains and reinstall. If you did not have backups, tis as good a time as any to get some now), patch-it with the relevant official patch, then install TSL RCM 1.8.3. Also, for peragus, get the kill-blaster (with Kotor Save Editor 3.3.3 or 3.3.4) and kill 'em all faster! Honestly, that's the best way to get no bugs. There's a reason we are at 1.8.3, and not 1.8.2 anymore ;)

I bit the bullet and had it download while i slept last night. I'll most likely install everything later. Should be able to recall how i got the widescreen patch working.

Though i still don't want to completely start over again. Peragus was actually pretty cool the first time through but...not again. At least, not this soon. Plus the download page says that reusing my 1.8.2 saves should be safe.

Thanks.

There are a few minor glitches in 1.8.3, and it would be unprofessional to have them remaining.
However, no clue when that'll be, and I doubt that would be worth your time re-installing ;)

As for the differences between 1.8.2 and 1.8.3... yeah, there are a LOT of things done inbetween these 2 versions, so you wont regret it! :)
