Help For a Non-Techie

Recommended Posts

Hey all, i've been sitting here for the better part of the day trying to just get the base TSLRCM to run, and no matter how I set it up (running from steam) it wont open up. I've made sure its downloaded into the steam files, i've gone into steam and set the launch options to the set folder and nothing. I've tried downloading the files from all over the internet, and lastly the ones straight from this site. I've never tried to Mod anything so i'm really green when it comes to this, and i've tried following the read me to the letter, and i'm still lost. Any help?

Can you explain in detail what you did? You downloaded the mod installer, then did you run it? You do not need to run Kotor game from any folder or anything, the mod mechanics for kotor are not like, say Jedi Academy.

All you have to do is install the game, Steam or CD. Then run the TSLRCM installer (which you downloaded), and select the proper game directory during installation, which in your case would be:

either "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Knights of the Old Republic II"

or "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Knights of the Old Republic II"

(depends whether you have 32-bit or 64-bit OS).

Then just start up the game, you will notice the change in the main menu indicating that the mod is installed.

Well i've downloaded the game from steam, went in and selected the 'do not update the game',  then I made sure I copy and pasted the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Knights of the Old Republic II\  from the read me when prompted during the mod installer. I've tried variations on everything i mentioned above, including un-installing and re-installing both mod and game, shifting from online/offline mode, setting the game to launch from the modded folders from steam, and still nothing. This is the first time i've ever tried to mod, so I dont know if their's something blatantly obvious i'm missing or if my laptop is screwing with me.

You might have a 32-bit windows. In that case, use Program Files instead.

(Got that information about Steam installations after 1.8.2 was released :/)
