Xen 0 Posted July 19, 2012 I don't know if you've already answered this or not, I apologize for making this post if you have. What exactly does the demo do besides restore some content, I mean does it cut off after a certain point ending the game or something like that? I would love to play this demo, I just have an annoying tendency in my personality to be able to finish what I started. Sorry I also don't know where that plus sign came from in the title, maybe a typo... but I digress. Sorry again, I don't want to seem rude or anything in this post. I personally think it's wonderful what your doing and hope you all keep on going forward.

It doesn't cut off; the game progresses as it normally would. You just experience Taris and Dantooine in a significantly different way than vanilla. Xen 0 Posted July 19, 2012 I ran into a problem with the demo. I installed the normal patch for KOTOR 1, Patch 1.03. I then installed the demo, but now it's asking for a CD even though it's already in the drive. Is there a fix for this or did I do something wrong? Try reinstalling the whole game.

The version of SecuRom on the KOTOR disc is a bit sketchy with modern O/S (Vista, Win7). You could try backing up the KOTOR.exe file and replacing it with the patched version available from SecuRom: http://download.securom.com/support/000056/swkotor.zip It solved weird launching issues for me! Hope it helps you!
Xen 0 Posted July 19, 2012 I tried reinstalling, and just to double check I launched the game after installing the 1.03 patch and it worked. Once I installed the demo though, it kept asking for the CD. I also tried the executable that was posted here, didn't do anything except give me an analysis option, but it still asked for a CD. I should mention that I'm not using a full KOTOR 1 only CD. When I bought it, it was part of a pack. The CD also has Empire at War on it, don't know if this makes a difference. I have that pack as well. (If this is the Star Wars greatest hits disk) You have to use the other disk. They actually have the wrong graphic on each disk. Hopefully this works.. Also the Jedi Outcast game has a similar issue on that particular pack...
Xen 0 Posted July 19, 2012 It didn't work, I just tried the other disk. The set I got was part of the "Best of PC Pack", it included Battlefront, Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, and Republic Commandos on one disk. The second disk has Empire at War and Knights of the Old Republic on it.

Xen 0 Posted July 20, 2012 I have the "Best of PC" edition so it is not an issue with the K1R demo. Perhaps you have a faulty disc? It runs fine before I install the demo, the problem starts after I install the demo it asks for the CD. I'll try a manual install instead of the automatic one and see what happens. I'm trying to do the manual install, but when I reach step two, to copy all the .MOD files. There are no .MOD files located in the demo that I downloaded. Are they missing or....? Ok, so I went back and reviewed all the files in the downloaded folder. The .MOD files are there, but when I try to extract them I get an error, for some reason not everything is being extracted. Does anyone know a fix for this? or could it just be my computer because I'm running Windows 8 Consumer Preview. I've tried with 7zip and winrar. Sorry for so many posts, I got the files to extract. Xen 0 Posted July 20, 2012 I think I got it installed correctly in manual, it launches, I just need a surefire way to see if it worked so I'm reviewing the change log for something that can tell me.
