War on the Internet: ISPs to become lackeys for Hollywood executives

Recommended Posts

Read the link here http://www.tomsguide.com/us/RIAA-copyright-cops-Anonymous-Time-Warner-Comcast,news-14459.html

Scary stuff.

What can you do to protect your privacy (this is perfectly legal btw)?

You can download the TOR browser, a VPN, and use proxies. I recommend as many layers of security as possible if your ISP starts harassing you over downloads in the next few months even if your downloads are perfectly legal.

Protect your anonymity online and have a good day!

Another thing is what the ISPs will be doing is clearly going to have constitutional problems within the United States and sooner or later their actions will be challenged in court. Not that our executive branch, legislative branch, or supreme court obeys the constitution, they've already proven they don't. I honestly think there is going to be a revolution within the USA with the increasing clamp downs on our constitutional rights and I think the Occupy Movement and the movements worldwide waging a peaceful war to protect the internet is only the start of that revolution. Whether or not the revolution will be peaceful is up to the corporate powers but, knowing them they may clamp down so much that violence may become the only option and that's a scary thought and something I do not want to happen as I want the revolution to be peaceful.

According to Anonnews.org, Anonymous has officially declared war on the US government.

Yes I know and according to the US government Anonymous and the Occupy Movement may be "terrorists".

Translation: Anyone who speaks out against our slow eroding away of the Bill of Rights or speaks about how the government is bought and paid for by wall street is a terrorist.

Translation2: The United States was founded by "terrorists".

Edit: Here's a even better explanation for what's going on http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/03/15/american-isps-to-launch-massive-copyright-spying-scheme-on-july-12/

Here's one thing I'm afraid of:

It's one thing to slow down the bandwidth of pirates (which sucks) but it's another to accuse users of piracy and then do it anyways. This may sound decent in some eyes, but then what are they considering pirated material? Is downloading a freeware dvd ripper going to be considered illegal? What about console modding? emulators? Are they going to assume anyone using an emulator must need roms, thus meaning they download roms, thus meaning illegal downloading is happening?

Hell, they already halted my internet to insanely low levels (without telling me) because I was using a torrent. I even have the game I was downloading, just not the means to turn it into an image file.

Regardless...

This is just more proof that shutting down the internet for a day isn't enough. We need to fight. I can't hack government websites, so I'm going to boycott music and film. I will go out of my way to avoid ever buying movies. I will not buy any more CDs ever.

This is just.... ugh

We are controlled by the rich. There's no question about it. If you think there is any question about it still, you'd better take your head out of your ass.

Indeed we are controlled by the rich and people are waking up. Why do you think the US government and their corporate masters are afraid of the Occupy Movement? Just recently the government and their corporate masters moved the G8 summit to Camp David out of fear of the movement. Believe me I used to support Obama but, then he and his masters attacked the internet and I woke up. Both parties are bought and paid for and every election in the USA is a choice of the lesser of the two evils.

Breaking News! Cox Communications and Sonic are NOT participating in the internet spying scheme :D. "For example, companies like Sonic and Cox Communications have a history of fighting for their users where they can, and are notably absent from this arrangement." Source: Electronic Frontier Foundation via https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2012/03/graduated-response-deal-steamrollers-towards-july-1-launch

I can see Cox and Sonic becoming very wealthy companies if they continue their policy of NOT participating in this scheme. Send a thank you to Cox and Sonic for not participating in the spying on their users and if possible switch. Internet freedom ftw!

As always I will keep you updated if the situation changes and those companies decide to do something extremely evil.

So i can haz video game betas without fear of being spied on? Yes I can (note: that is subject to change depending on if the MAAFIA can get Cox and Sonic to join their evil quest to destroy the internetz).
