[Technical Help] Reconstructing a lost save for "Felipe" using GLOBALVARS.res and PARTYTABLE.res

Hello everyone,

I’m a big fan of the game and I’ve run into a major issue. After a clean Windows installation, my save folder was corrupted and I lost everything. However, I managed to manually recover two essential files: GLOBALVARS.res and PARTYTABLE.res.

I really don't want to start over because I’ve invested a lot of time in this specific playthrough. I’m looking for a "save game surgeon" who could help me reconstruct a working save folder for my character, Felipe, using these two files.

My Playthrough Details:

• Character Name: Felipe

• Alignment: 100% Light Side (Paragon).

• Progress: I have fully completed Dantooine, Tatooine, and Kashyyyk (Star Maps acquired, all side quests done).

• Current Point: I just arrived at Manaan (Ahto City).

• Party: I already have Jolee Bindo and Juhani recruited.

My Goal: I want to finish Manaan and Korriban to complete the story before jumping into KotOR 2.

I know it might involve creating a dummy save and using KSE or GFF editing to swap the tables, but I'm not confident doing it myself without breaking the game.

Any help to save Felipe's journey would be greatly appreciated!

Just a heads up, I am using a Brazilian Portuguese translation mod (PT-BR). I hope that doesn't interfere with the global variables!"

The short answer is: you can't. Saves consist of more than just that. Every module you visit has its own separate archive that tracks the changes in the module state like opened doors, looted containers, dead enemies, etc. Without that, the game would think you're entering every module for the very first time.

You have two options. Suck it up and start a fresh playthrough, or look at one of the available save collections to use as a jumping off point and modify with KSE as needed.

Thanks for the honest answer! I understand that the module states are missing. However, since I just arrived at Manaan and finished the other planets, would it be possible to take a 'Save Collection' file that is at the start of Manaan and simply overwrite its GLOBALVARS.res and PARTYTABLE.res with mine?

My goal is just to keep my character's attributes, inventory, and the quest flags for the previous planets (Dantooine, Tatooine, Kashyyyk) so I don't have to redo the choices. Would that work as a 'franken-save' just to get me through the end?"

I suspect it's highly unlikely you'll find a save collection that did Manaan last. Trying to merge your globals into a different world state is just going to break things.

If you're completely unwilling to start over, I'd suggest you'd be better off finding either a LS or DS run (to match whatever you did), skipping over Manaan altogether and pick it up from the point of no return after all the maps are done. Don't try to merge in anything, just edit the main character with KSE to change it to whatever yours was.

I really appreciate your help and the detailed explanation. Since I'm not an expert with KSE and I'm afraid of breaking the game state, would you be willing to edit a save for me?

If you have a clean 'Light Side' save at the start of Manaan (with Dantooine, Tatooine, and Kashyyyk finished), I can send you my files so you can check my original stats, inventory, and name.
