lerethio 0 Posted Sunday at 04:47 PM (edited) The soundtrack for KOTOR 1 and 2 has been upgraded as I've read that the game can playback sampling rates and bit depths higher than the files already located in streammusic. 🎧😁 https://www.nexusmods.com/kotor/mods/1772 Credit is given to DarthVigorous as i used his mod music overhaul mod as reference when renaming the mus_... audio files for K1. -https://deadlystream.com/files/file/2347-high-quality-kotor-music-overhaul/ These files have not been remastered or anything. Just pulled straight from the CD and converted to mono (which I failed to realize the game didn't support when I initially uploaded) Please note that this only affects the longer soundtrack files that can be found on youtube (mus_... For K1). If you using DarthVigorous's high quality music overhaul let this mod overwrite his. I. INSTALLATION: Place the streammusic folder from the zip labeled MONO files into Kotor 's root directory. The stereo files don't work for me on the PC version so you'll just get silence instead of music. If installing on K2 please backup the original mp3 files , delete them then replace with the .wav that have the same name. For K1 they should simply overwrite. In both cases you should backup the original files just in case but I'll upload the original files soon. These have not been altered by sith codec. UPDATE/IMPORTANT: Sadly it seems the game doesn't support the initial stereo files I uploaded instead playing back silence. However the engine is able to play both 16 bits and higher sampling rates than default from what I read. I have attached the raw stereo files incase anybody would lie to troubleshoot that aspect for themselves. These haven't been processed with sithcodec. Testing on android made me erroneously believe that stereo was supported as I didn't listen as closely as I should ( the default streammusic files from the .obb were played there instead) I've had a similar problem trying to replace Half Life 1s soundtrack on P.C. Side effect of old game engines it seems. Enjoy! Don't forget to back up the old 8 bit mus_... Files from streammusic first before overwriting them if you want to test it. I'll attach a backup of the original 8 bit mus_ files for Kotor 1 and the respective files for Kotor 2 soon. ArchScanner 2 Posted Sunday at 04:52 PM (edited) Cool beans! I love stuff like this, that just gives you those little upgrades that KotOR really needs. EDIT: Actually, maybe I'm stupid, but there's now no menu music or background music on the Endar Spire. I just drag and drop the files and replace when prompted, right? Edited Sunday at 05:05 PM by ArchScanner Got a bug when trying to use this mod.

lerethio 0 Posted Sunday at 10:07 PM (edited) I apologize everyone when I applied with codec it totally wrecked the files. They went from 44.1 khz 16 bit stereo to 22.1khz 8bit mono. I've recently learned that the music files needed a drag and drop only and didn't have to be processed with sith codec. At least on android. Thankfully mods are transferrable between both platforms. Perhaps that program wasn't needed for my use case. I'm uploading the normal wav files to the nexus link rn. On 12/14/2025 at 11:52 AM, ArchScanner said: Cool beans! The wav files were butchered by the sithcodec program so when I played it on my android phone only the standard streammusic files from the obb were played. Audio mods are underrated especially for games such as Kotor. I'm thinking about making one for Oblivion Remastered. That is a bit different than Skyrim though thanks to the unreal engine. I'll leave the nexus page up either way just Incase somebody knows what went wrong and if there's a fix. I'm starting to think the game is hard coded to 22khz sample rate. I had a similar issue modding Half Life 1's soundtrack to lossless quality. I'll look into this some more and see what can be done Edited 5 hours ago by lerethio

I have realized that the game doesn't support stereo files for the soundtrack. However I was able to make a version with only mono audio files. They still have the bump in resolution besides that. I made this as basically a more "unaltered" version of his mod without any of the remastering he did. Edited 3 hours ago by lerethio
