Help: Black screen/crash after character creation

Recommended Posts

I'm having an issue with my install of both 1.6 and 1.7 (I've tried both). I searched the forum for my particular problem, but nothing fit. After I do the character creation and the Star Wars scroll finishes (or is passed through), the screen goes black but I can hear the engine sound in the background. The game freezes though and the windows error dialogue box pops up behind the game (I only noticed it was there because the mouse cursors changes to a hand while on the black screen).

Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on how to work around this?

Also when I do the install it says I don't have the recommended video card (my computer is about 3 years old and has a built in video card but it definitely has enough to power this game but it isn't a red error just a yellow error. Could this be the issue?

Thanks.

I'm running XP.

2GB of ram

2.2GHz processor

Intel G33/31 chipset video GPU

Didn't know about the missing dll I assume that's just for Vista though right?

Ok, well looks like I got confused because the game says I was version 2.00.242, but then I ran the update to 1.0b and it said I was updated from 1.0 to 1.0b. So that's now done.

Any other patches I might be missing?

Oh and it's running 32 bit.

Do I need to download the versions of TSLRCM in order or can I just download 1.7?

Insatll only version 1.7 and the unofficial patch by Hassat if you wish. Do not install 1.6 or earlier build before 1.7. By the way, do you have US version, UK or another?
