I'm not sure, might be easier to just look in each Star Forge module since there are only four of them and you know it's not going to be anywhere else.

Yep. They're both in Star Forge areas. I plan to do another 2 playthroughs just to make sure everything's finalized anyway, but I think that should be good. Thanks so much, JC. I'm (very) slowly getting the hang of this. XD

I think I remember that being one of the problematic ones, but the only way to be sure would be to do a search in KOTOR Tool.

There does seem to be a file of the same name, but with a different number. Once I've search for something, is there any way to find where it is in the game specifically? I assume I couldn't just sort everything by that reference number, could I?

That's probably not going to work with Bastila, though, because BioWare used the file name in several instances throughout the game and putting one in Override will change all of them. To get it to work without doing that, you'd have to set up TSLPatcher to change the alignment and insert the edited UTC into a MOD file.

I was concerned about that. But I think if I can just use the sta file then it should be alright, yeah?

  4. Hey guys, I'm trying to fix Fenharel's Corrupted Bastila mod, but I'm having trouble with the final confrontation with Bastila aboard the Star Forge (Light Side). From what I can tell (worked for the Leviathan Interrogation at least) I just need her utc file for the area so that I can change Bastila's alignment to dark side, and that should make her "Corrupted Head" appear. But I don't know how to rip the file from the base game, nor even the name of the file I would be looking for, how to find that out, or if I just need to create one from scratch. Any help would be very much appreciated. This is the last thing I need to fix to perfect my build.

  5. Sorry if this is the wrong place to be asking for this. Let me know if it is and I'll take it down. I'm trying to solve a mod conflict that's causing the game to blackscreen on the trip from the Unknown World to the Star Forge. My saves are too modded for me to use, so if anyone has a Light Side (just needs to be LS as far as the temple decision goes) Save Game that's as unmodded as possible and at least somewhat close to that area, you'd save me a good 6-ish hours of time doing a speedrun. Thanks for your help.

For the most part, the DLG files don't contain text. Each node in a dialogue file has a string reference that points to a line in the dialog.tlk file and all the text is there. I believe they did this for localization purposes so they could hand off just the one file to the translators. If you want to edit any of the game's text, there are two options.

    1. Edit dialog.tlk directly with TalkEd. The TLK file is massive and difficult to navigate, but the DLG file will at least tell you the line members. That should be simple enough for personal use, but I wouldn't recommend releasing it as a mod because dialog.tlk has all the text in the game so that presents a compatibility issue. It's possible to patch it with TSLPatcher, though.
    2. Edit the DLG files instead. DLG files can have their own text, they just don't normally. To edit the text, you have to set the string reference to -1. That gets rid of the TLK line reference so you can type your own text instead. I would recommend using DLGEditor rather than KOTOR Tool's dialogue editor. This might not be the proper way to do it, but it's less of a compatibility issue because you only have to deal with other mods that alter those same specific DLG files.

Okay, thank you very much. The mod I'm working on only changes those two files and not the tlk file so I think I'll have to try the second option.

  7. Hey guys, I have a hopefully straight-forward question this time. Simply put, how do you edit the text of .dlg files? Specifically, I'm just trying to fix a couple typos in tar02_bendak021.dlg and tar02_duelorg021.dlg. I've tried playing around with them in KotOR Tool without much success. Thanks for any help you can provide.

If you're only editing a few items, you shouldn't edit baseitems.2da. That will change every other item in the game of that item type.

What exactly were the edits that you say crashed the game?

Basically what happened was I didn't realize the files I had were incomplete/I had a bad install order for them. Plus the weapons are unique and don't use a vanilla item type, so I think it should be fine.

You'd have to tell us what you're actually editing as that could be any number of things making your game crash.

However, one thing to note is that editing the .uti will not change items you already have in your inventory. It might work if you remove them with the Save Game Editor, change the .uti and then add them back with the Save Editor, but I'm not sure.

I'm trying to change the stats of some ryyk blades that were added into the game. One of which spawns in the same locker as Zaalbar's Bowcaster, the other on Chuundar's person. (Sorry for the very late reply BTW, I've been working on other projects.)

Edit: I may have found the problem actually. If baseitems isn't changed and just the uti files are, will it crash the game?

Double edit: Yes! That did the trick. Thanks for your help guys. I really didn't want to give up on these.

Hi! A quick heads-up if you guys don't mind. If you have had [K1] Selven "Legends" installed, I wanted to inform you that the Selven's Vibroblade included with the mod is using the w_vbroshort_101.mdl/mdx or model variation 101 for the vibroblade. So, I believe there would be an issue if you decided to go with 101 for the said variation. For consideration, but you do the honors to decide what's in your 'Override' folder.

Yeah, I realized that as I started on it. Thanks for the heads up though. 😁

'Ello everyone. I'm having an issue with an invincible enemy. If I pick the third option (the one that gives dark side points) and let the rakghoul kill Hendar in the Undercity, when I leave the village, said rakghoul is invulnerable.

    1) During the game, when did the problem begin to occur?

At the rakghoul that kills Hendar.
    2) Did you install the latest version of the mod? (1.2)

    Yes.
    3) What version of the game do you have? (Steam, GOG, 4CD, KotOR Collection?) What region is the game designed for if it's the 4 CD version?

    Steam
    4) Did you update your game as required by your game's region? (4-CD version ONLY)

    N/A
    5) Did you install this over the previous version(s), or did you perform a fresh installation as required by the K1R's read-me file?

    Fresh install.
    6) What other mods have you installed? Please give an accurate list and provide links to each of these mods - even if they are found on this site. (We don't actually know them all!.)

I uninstalled all other mods to pinpoint this as the issue.
    7) Can you be more specific about the error? At what point did it happen?

If I pick the third option (the one that gives dark side points) and let the rakghoul kill Hendar in the Undercity, when I leave the village, said rakghoul is invulnerable.
8.) Have you tried re-downloading/re-installing the mod?

    Yes. Both.
    9) Have you tried using a different save game?

    Yes.
    10) Have you tried starting a new game?

    Yes.
    11) What Operating System do you use? (List Virtual Machines as well if you are using them.)

    Windows 10, OS Build: 17134.228
    12) IF USING THE GOG OR 4CD VERSION: Can you confirm that you see the K1R Launcher when you launch the game?

    N/A

Update: Apparently the rakghoul is only invincible 'temporarily' (a good 5 seconds or so). So not as game-breaking at least, just annoying.

Update: Scratch that. Apparently, I just got lucky that time. Most of the time, the rakghoul is still invincible.

Update: Haven't been able to pin anything down with this. It seems to just be luck of the draw. Even if I don't skip through any conversations (or vice versa), take different paths, talk to different people in different orders, nothing seems to affect it. Sometimes he'll be invincible, sometimes not. Sometimes he'll only be invincible for a little while. My frustration's mounting so I'm giving up on it for now but I'll let you know if I find any kind of pattern in future playthroughs that might help fix it.

  12. My apologies for my ignorance in advance. I'm very new to this whole business. I'm trying to create a proper item icon for Fenharel's Mission's Vibroblade retexture since he didn't add one, but I can't figure out how to make it compatible with the game's menus. The image just shows up with the background that's in the base image, and covers a larger area than it should. Any help would be appreciated. I know I'm doing something seriously wrong here.

  13. K1 Fenharel Style Character Select Screen Portraits for Carth, HK, and T3

Hey guys. This is my very first 'mod' (feels almost insulting to call it that but what can you do?), such as it is. I made this for my own personal use but thought I'd see if anyone else would like to use it. Please leave feedback on whether you'd like different backgrounds etcetera and I can see about updating/adding to it.

If like me, both Fenharel's character retextures and the HK SWTOR retexture by DarthParametric have become a staple in your override folder, and you're also a little insane in the membrane, you may have been bothered by the fact that Fen included some awesome portraits for each character on the party select screen, yet Carth (even though he was retextured), HK, and T3 have no such portraits. For me, it broke the immersion of the mod to have this juxtaposition. Therefore, I've created portraits for them (while trying to stay as faithful to his style as possible).

Installation: Just stick the TGA's in yer good ole override folder. Warning: DarthParametric's HK retexture already has a po_phk473 file but it is under a different file format. Even though your computer won't say that it conflicts, you need to go into the override folder and delete the file named po_phk473.dds manually for his portrait to show up.

Compatibility: Shouldn't have any conflicts with anything besides mods that change po_pcarth3, po_phk473, or po_pt3m33 (of which I haven't seen any aside from the one detailed in the installation section above, so you should be good to go).

Anyway, let me know what you guys think and thanks a bunch for being such an awesome community.

  14. (I have no modding experience so please forgive my ignorance.) (Hopefully, this is the right place to be asking. Sorry if it's not.) I was wondering how to take specific items out of the game. There was a mod that I tried recently and loved but it gave the player some really overpowered items that I wanted to get rid of. I deleted the mdl, mdx, tga, and txi files from my override folder, but the weapon would still show up in-game without a texture, so I tried deleting all mentions of the weapon from baseitems (with Notepad) and then the game wouldn't start. Any assistance rendered would be highly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
