  1. What he said ^

Bootcamp will be the smoothest option, especially for big games like Fallout 3 and NV. I only run Bootcamp for games that I can't play any other way, like SWTOR and K2 (though not anymore!). You'll have a smoother and reduced hassle experience if you use Bootcamp rather than a Wine wrapper or Crossover, or even a VM.

BUT this means you either have to buy Windows (which will cost you an arm and a leg) or run Windows illegally.

  2. They could be making KOTOR 3 right now, BUT I have my doubts. SWTOR was meant to be, and is, a huge successor to the KOTOR series. If you think about it, it's like having multiple sequels to the series. There's so much content in that game, its crazy.

I think Bioware has something else up their sleeve with this new Star Wars game they're making. It could be related to KOTOR and SWTOR somehow but I'm not sure it'll be a legit "KOTOR 3" or anything.

But I could be wrong. And I'd be okay with that. :P

  3. Surely its not a surprise to you guys. FF network sites have been acting up for years now. The OP link explains why. This is one reason why JKHub was created, to give the JK community a safe place to move to when FF finally went under. Luckily, we got a good 75% of JK2 and JKA mods uploaded with permission from the original authors. The other 25% leaves the random reborn and jawa reskins and the mods that we didn't have permission to upload.

I recommend the staff here do the same, while the files are still available. Contact authors and get them to register here and upload their mods - or get permission to upload them yourself. You'll be surprised how many modders are still contactable and are willing to do it.

I also recommend you guys fully brand your site as the new home to KOTOR modding, and maybe even drop JK support. The KOTOR community only has here and LF to go to, and we all know how LF can be a bit shady in it's intentions for the future. :P

  4. Honestly, probably not. Since the game already came out for Mac, Aspyr doesn't have much else to do. It came out several years ago on the Mac and they slightly update it every few months. The odds are very slim, but then again, that's what everyone thought for TSL

They have yet to port it to Linux, so that's one thing that could drive them to do this same update to K1.

As far as testing things on Mac goes, I'd love to help out. I could even ask one of the coders from the JK community to help. He made the program called ModView available natively on Mac, so he knows what he's doing. If a legit thread and effort is made, I could point him to it and he could help point you in the right direction.

Hey would this make Kotor ll canon now?

    Short answer: no.

Disney/Lucasfilm have said that only movies and TV shows and a handful of recently released books are canon. But seeing how new content is being created for SWTOR and TSL is re-released is a good sign and could point to them being made canon. I believe they still sell SWTOR toys as well, such as Legos and Darth Revan action figures, though I could be wrong about that.

  5. They can't have it pre-installed because then they would be selling it, which they can't do unless they pay the people that actually worked on it. Can't say "created" it per se, since it mostly uses original assets and files. Right?

Could be an interesting discussion though, IF the mod was created only by using original assets, then it might be able to be sold since the assets were created by Obsidian. Not sure though.

  6. And my answer to that is that "release dates are for those that don't care about quality in mods." ;)

Or on a grander scheme, don't care about quality of games, just want to get their hands on the money ASAP. Look at TSL and JKA, both are victims of this.

I'd be a bigger fan of a KOTOR and TSL remake than a KOTOR 3, at least at first. Maybe remake them, and use those as a basis for a new installment. That way they can get their feet wet in new gameplay and graphics but not worry too much about story, and then use all that they learn to improve on a KOTOR 3 and focus on the story more.

Might be wishful thinking though. :P

  7. Don't be so sure. We're getting a new Battlefront, so that's a step in the right direction. Now that Lucasarts is being run by competent people, we'll be seeing some great games in the next few years. We only got a handful of Star Wars games in the past 10 years or so, compared the dozens we got from 1999 - 2006, when the movies were coming out. I bet a KOTOR 3, or a KOTOR remake is on the horizon.

  8. Not a shock at all. These guys clearly didn't have any experience in the gaming field. Anyone in a modding community knows perfectly well how these projects take so much time and effort. This project was too ambitious for their optimistic release date. Setting a release date was their biggest mistake, but setting it so early was just foolish.

And yeah, mix in all the legal issues and whatnot.

I say leave the remastering to the people that know the game the best, the original devs (or a legit company), or the modding community. :)

  9. I think vice versa would be better, but that's just me. I always use the same pristine t3 skin in TSL.

In terms of creating both textures, it would make more sense to start with the original KOTOR 1 texture. Otherwise he'd probably be backtracking if starting with a scuffed up, dirty one. I'm sure he'd release both at the same time or soon after one another, so no need to worry about getting one before the other. :P

  10. Oh man, that being the case (and if we can get mods in there) this could be a real great thing. It's too bad though it doesn't work on Ouya (not that I have one).

Although seems I could just hook up my tablet to the TV

Well, mods aren't compatible with the iOS version without a jailbreak, but I imagine the Android version would support it fine.
