Jorak Uln 459 Posted February 25, 2020 Very good to see you keep on going! Are you editing the area models as well? (for texturing nature etc. im using textures.com -> which is free & really superb for ground tex etc. ) Also, it would be interesting to see if the grass view distance could be increased further. Malkior 477 Posted February 26, 2020 Actually, I was just in talks about that very thing. I was about to post a request for assistance since, well I'm barely a novice at 3d modelling due to my general lack of a viable 3d program. However, I just downloaded gmax and kotormax and am ready to start learning. (Cliche I know, but what are ya gonna do? : | ) The topic of my request post will basically be on how I would reliably edit the walkmesh. (To fix an issue where your character floats above the ground on one part and sinkis into it on another) I need help, since apparently the AI Pathing in Aurora is terrible on a good day; and editing even a small portion of the walkmesh could cause them to get stuck if I'm not careful. Additionally, the trees are technically part of the area model, and as you are no doubt aware, are probably the worst modeled trees in recent history. I can do a lot with the textures, but fixing the actual geometry will be the difference between a making it look like a good visual from 2003 and a decent visual from 2013. Heck, I have hopes that I could get them to look comparable with something like Half-Life 2, if given the opportunity. Also, the bushes are literally two copies of the branch texture crossing together and yeah.. there has to be something done to fix at least that. Quote Share this comment Link to comment
Jorak Uln 459 Posted February 26, 2020 Well, im certainly more of a beginner to 3d modeling then you If its so difficult to implement those trees, what do you think about importing fully modeled tree ressources from the Internet? Btw, does that mean you are able to add models to any planet/ area of the game at will? Quote Share this comment Link to comment
