Guest Rtas Vadum Posted June 24, 2011 Gotta have something interesting, don't I? Rather than just any old W.I.P thread, though this does have that purpose. Anyway... Black Core Blades So, something already done, and impossible to create. Of course, the point here isn't the realism, its just the fact of how it looks. All the blades get a black core, and they are animated, though I'm not sure of the colors. If they are fine as is, or maybe they should be closer to the vanilla game's colors, then let me know. EDIT: Changed topic title (Hassat)
Guest milestails Posted June 24, 2011 I like it! Definitely outside the box..or the hilt rather!
VarsityPuppet 1,085 Posted June 24, 2011 lol, my old WIP thread was V.I.P.
Guest Dark_Ansem Posted June 24, 2011 how did you do the black core?
Guest Crixler Posted June 24, 2011 how did you do the black core? Transparent background instead of black background, and remove the line in the .txi about being additive.
Guest Rtas Vadum Posted June 24, 2011 how did you do the black core? Normally, the blade textures are made so the black area is technically ignored by the game, and doesn't show it. The txi files for the blades list: blending additive decal 1 The 'Blending Additive' is what makes the game ignore the black parts of the texture. Removing it causes the obvious, so you have to make all but the black core, and the circle's glow, transparent.
Guest DeadMan Posted June 25, 2011 Black cores always looked too unnatural to me. Light just can't be black, at least physics say that! But it's just me.
Guest Dark_Ansem Posted June 25, 2011 but the Rule of Cool approves them. LOL
Mandalore 61 Posted June 25, 2011 Those look very good. And on the subject of their relation to physics, I can give what I think is an adequate explanation: instead of projecting light, it takes it in like a black hole, but the magnetic containment field prevents anything worse. So what about the coloured glow? Shouldn't that not exist then?
Mandalore 61 Posted June 26, 2011 The containment field stopping the black hole from taking in the entire lightsabre is keeping it purely to the dimensions of the core, so anything around it is unaffected.
