aaronkitchen 0 Posted February 27, 2016 I need help figuring out why every time I try killing Rulan Kotor I crashes. I get as far as killing him but right then Kotor decides to crash. Please help, I have run out of ideas as to how to fix this problem. I am running Windows 8.1 on an Asus I7 laptop. Things I have tryed to fix this. Now the Manaan Going for a swim is crashing when you try entering the sea floor from the first republic base. It seems their are certain movies that cause Kotor 1 to crash. I have so far found two. https://youtu.be/UznCVoSeGPw 1. Set Kortor I to only use one Cpu. 2. Set Monitor to lowest setting. 3. Ran Kotor I at 800 with by 600 height. 4. Uninstalled Kotor I several times and reinstalled. 5. Ran regedit to remove any reference to Kotor I several times. 6. Installed Steam version, GOG version, and Retail version (currently installed on laptop) 7. Tried setting Kotor 1 shortcut to make game use only one core instead of eight. 8. Tried Kortor 1 on windows 7(new) how install retail version on windows 7. Thanks in advance Aaron ( Shadowbane ). I have included a link to the video I made of the problem. https://youtu.be/Obi1rXeeWfg
Fair Strides 509 Posted February 28, 2016 What mods are you running?
aaronkitchen 0 Posted February 28, 2016 I have removed all mods from Kotor 1. I have the retail version of the game. The version I am currently using I found at a garage sale. So it might be the original version made by Lukusarts. I have tried the steam version, and GOG version.
Fair Strides 509 Posted February 28, 2016 Okay, but did you remove all the mods before this issue, and even more importantly, did you have a save in this area (or after having visited this area) when you removed the mods? Some data is saved in the save game, so just removing mods isn't always advised. And considering that I still don't know what mods you had/have, I don't know what might have affected Rulan... aaronkitchen 0 Posted February 28, 2016 I started removing the mods when I started having trouble. It turns out I found a very nasty virus on is laptop and it is causing certain programs to behave erratically. It turns out Kotor is one of them. Unfortunately this virus is so nasty the only way to get rid of it is to do a clean install of windows, which means I need to contact the manufacture of my Laptop because no install disk were included with my laptop. It isn't a complete lost I have a backup of all my important programs, so it shouldn't be a complete pain in the Butt, It will just take a lot of time to recover. When I get everything reinstalled I will edit my last post if I have anymore trouble with this mission? Thanks for trying to help me.
