Renodil 10 Posted October 13, 2010 I would very much like to edit the Atton's lightsabers for someone who is a dual wielder and not a dueler like Atton is since he's a Sentinel and not a Guardian like the Handmiaden or Bao-Dur. Honestly I don't know what Turkeysub was thinking when he made these. Anyways, the problem is the chitin.key file is apparently the file that had the info for everything in the game. The .2da's, .dlg's, .uti's etc. and whenever you add something to the mod folder it does not update the chitin.key file and so there is no way to edit these items using the Kotor Tool. Mandalore 61 Posted October 13, 2010 Well, every time I access KotOR Tool it always says the chitin key is corrupt or non-US, but it doesn't really affect anything...
Markus Ramikin 107 Posted October 14, 2010 Who's Turkeysub and basically someone explain that whole first post to me?
Renodil 10 Posted October 14, 2010 (edited) Turkeysub is the creator of the custom character lightsabers. And it's Atton's lightsabers in this mod that I'm trying to modify http://knightsoftheoldrepublic.filefront.com/file/Custom_character_lightsabers;116955 I want to edit Atton's Lightsabers so they can be useable by someone else. Like Bao-Dur or the Handmiaden who are Jedi Guardians and thus get the two-weapon fighting feats. It's more logical that they have 2 lightsabers whereas Atton being a Sentinel gets the Dueling feat, so he's better off only using one weapon. The problem is since these are weapons that were placed into the Override folder they won't load into the Kotor Tool, so I can't edit them. Not unless I learn how to place their info into the chitin.key file. At least I think that's what I need to do. I'm new to modding. Markus Ramikin 107 Posted October 14, 2010 Oh, I see. *thinks* No, I don't know how to make this work for you. But I'm the modding infant here, maybe someone else can.
Renodil 10 Posted October 14, 2010 (edited) That's OK. I read the help file trying to find the answer and I did. Turns out if you already have override files that you can work with all ya got to do is launch the project manager and start a new project. Then load in the override files ya want to edit and then dbl click them and edit them. Took awhile, but now Bao-Dur has Atton's 2 lightsabers, I made the second one a short saber instead of both being regular ones, changed the color on both form yellow to blue and purple and Atton now has Bao-Dur's lightsaber which was changed from blue to yellow. I even modified the Exile's Saber so he can use it on the upgrade bench. This took a little more doing as I could not figure out WHY he couldn't, so I just used one of the lightsabers found in the chitin.key or wherever the default ones are read from, (still not sue on that), and simply copied his special stuff from his exported xml file to the end of the default lightsaber xml file. Same with the Handmaiden who also couldn't upgrade hers. Using what I've learned I could basically do anything I want with weapons and items in the game. I can for example take a default gun and make it stronger and only useable by Mandalor and I then just save it as a new file name still using the .uti extension directly into the Override folder. Man this modding stuff is easy. Oh. forgot to mention you can use the Extract file button on those default files to extract them to anywhere on your computer and then start a new project and add them directly into the Ovedrride folder before you start working on them. Mandalore 61 Posted October 14, 2010 Thanks, that helped me as well. It was a pain to have to go through several files just to get to a Twi'Lek I made...
