Am I doing something wrong?

Recommended Posts

After a few years away from KOTOR2 I finally found the disc again and installed it. First thing I did was install TSLRCM, then edited the .ini file to enable the console and set the screen resolution to my screen's native resolution.

When I tried to run the game, it crashed before even going to splash screens. Does the mod require the 1.0b patch (downloading as I type this)? Or have I missed something vital? Should I perhaps have left installing the mod and doing my .ini tweaks until after the first run?

I'm running Vista, in case that makes a difference; I didn't need to sort out compatibility with KOTOR1, but I haven't played KOTOR2 on this particular rig previously.

Any idea what might be the problem?

EDIT: I tried uninstalling TSLRCM, as per the instructions, but after that KOTOR2 said the installation was broken and needed a reinstall, so I uninstalled and have a reinstallation running now.

Vista hates games, and 7 isn't much better with old games. You're going to need to acquire the Vista Fix (I'm not sure where to get it), and maybe add the Dantooine Lag Fix to your .ini file. What code did you add for the console, and what screen resolution did you put? If I remember correctly, the game only supports a couple resolutions, so you need to get something like Squizzy's Patcher, which allows you to change the resolution to whatever you want.

The 1.0b isn't required, per say, but it definitely is recommended. It fixes a few game-breaking bugs.

I used EnableCheats=1, and set the resolution to 1280x800.

I'll have a look for the Vista fix, the Dantooine fix and Squizzy's Patcher. Reading that link now. Ye gods, KOTOR2 seems picky... :-D

Got it working now. Going to back up the whole directory before installing TSLRCM.

Thanks for the advice, folks.
