Looking to do a run-through with TSLRCM; other recommended mods?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I am looking to do a playthrough of TSL with the RCM mod, which will be my first playthrough with the mod.

I haven't really followed the modding community for TSL much and was wondering what other mods would be strongly recommended for this?

Thanks.

Hey there.

There aren't any mods strongly recommended for playing the game (TSLRCM is the only exception). In case of wishing to run a modded game, what is VERY important for you to be careful about after installing the restoration mod is to check whether they are compatible with TSLRCM, which you can do by reading through the list here: http://deadlystream.com/forum/topic/393-mod-compatibility-list-for-tslrcm-18/ Only mods mentioned in the first post are suggested to be installed, since other ones not confirmed to be working alongside TSLRCM may (and in most cases, will) mess up your game at some point, which will (again, in most cases) result in having to start a new game. You certainly don't want that to happen, right?

And to suggest some mods... As I don't like overmodded games, I only prefer using mods which don't really mess with textures of characters and adding invented content. I just like the game as it is.

So the ones I use/suggest:

Realistic Nar Shadaa Skybox (http://knightsoftheoldrepublic.filefront.com/file/Realistic_Nar_Shaddaa_Skybox;88468) It's quite an obligatory mod, because the original skybox is rather lame. It makes NS look much better.

Ultimate Sound Mod (http://knightsoftheoldrepublic.filefront.com/file/Ultimate_Sound_Mod_For_Both_KOTOR_TSL;64759) It changes the sounds of blasters, lightsabers and some of your Force Powers. I only use it to change the ignition sound of lightsabers if I am DS (since Obsidian quite forgot about Sith pokers ...) Yeah, and I change its buzzing sound to a much cooler one as well. Blaster sounds are okay by default; no need to change them, I think. And as for the Force power sounds, you don't want to change them, either. They are VERY horrendous. I mean the samples in the rar archive.

Remote tells influence (http://knightsoftheoldrepublic.filefront.com/file/Remote_Tells_Influence;87769) If you can't follow your influence status with all your party members, it is your mod.

Mira/Hanharr Choice (http://www.lucasfiles.com/index.php?s=a6ed&action=file&id=1491&PHPSESSID=a6ed) I use it when playing as DS to have Mira instead of Hanharr in your party.

EDIT: I almost forgot about this one: Kill the Ithorian mod (http://deadlystream.com/forum/files/file/10-kill-the-ithorian/). It was quite aggravating you couldn't overload the cage to kill him, but this mod will allow you to do it and gloat on his writhing (just kidding). I don't know why it wasn't put in the vanilla game, anyway. KOTOR was filled with things like this... Plus, It's a compulsory mod if you play a DS exile.

To hitch hike on what Sizo said, what mods to install is a very personal choice--some people like to play a very vanilla and unmodded game while there are others--like myself--who mod the bejesus out of a playthrough...again adjust ingredients to suit your taste.

Another important factor is the order in which you install your mods--personally I install the head mod first, then the mods which don't use the TSL patcher finishing up with mods that do use TSLP. You also want to avoid installing mods which serve similar functions--for example Lit Ridl's Warp Band is very popular so you will want to avoid other warpers.

Thanks for the help guys. One more quick question - for mods that go in the Override folder, can I segment them in sub-folders for each mod to keep track of what is what or will that not work correctly?

No, that really wont work properly.

That is disappointing. Thanks anyway.
