  1. I didn't know that, but I knew something similar happened on the Yavin station where, if you beat Suvam 10 times, he gives you a small permanent discount on items.

I think the same sort of thing happens with most of the Pazaak players in the game - it's just not seen as much as in K2 since the threshold is higher and Pazaak is less fun in K1.

For instance, I know for a fact that on Tatooine, Furko will stop playing for money after you beat his highest level, and Kudos will give you a Sigil crystal after 10 wins.

  2. Just got back from seeing it. My initial response: I'm not sure what to think.

A couple minutes later: What's the point?

A few more minutes later: Bah there is no point this whole thing is just a cash grab. I reject Disney's canon and substitute my own.

About an hour later, sitting and typing about it:

The movie itself was fine. I enjoyed it while I was watching it. 100% worth seeing once.

But now that it's done, I have no need for any more new Star Wars stuff. Not the sequels again, not anything else that might come out.

My biggest pet peeve with this whole series is that they called it a sequel. In my view, a good sequel doesn't take the crossover characters and kill them all off, while leaving the impression that the events of the original didn't matter. I would probably be much more satisfied with this if they had left out all the stuff from the OT and called it a totally new thing. Then again I probably wouldn't have come to watch it either. IDK, basically I still agree with my earlier assessment that the whole trilogy is pointless.

My interest in continuing on with this trilogy died with Luke. I don't think I'll be watching the third installment; the end of this film left me feeling like there was little point to another one. All the old characters are either dead or distilled to the point where they no longer draw my interest. The whole Resistance thing is a thing I've seen a bunch before and doesn't really offer anything new to me. I've seen plenty of Star Wars space battles and don't need any more. Clearly this trilogy is not going to deliver any good lightsaber fights. The only sort-of draw that's left is what happens with Rey and Kylo - and with the way this has been going, Kylo's conficted nature with Rey's resolute one, and general cinema logic tell me how it will end, and frankly if it ended a different way I'd probably be dissatisfied. Plus I still don't give a darn about Kylo even if he isn't as wimpy this time.

So yeah, kind of an interesting perspective. I enjoyed the movie, but simultaneously lost all interest in any new Star Wars stuff. The OT, KOTOR, and maybe the prequels sometimes will be all for me.

  3. I remember that in older versions of the RCM, T3 and 3C could have some conversations in the prologue and you could see actual words for T3's dialog. However, I was just playing with 1.8.5 and noticed that this is no longer the case, and no actual convos with 3C are possible. Is this supposed to happen, or is it a bug? The TSLRCM logo does appear on the main menu, so the mod is active.

  4. I told myself before Episode 7 came out that I would watch the next one if 7 was good enough. I watched it, it was okay, and so I'll watch episode 8. My experience with that will dictate my decision with episode 9.

At least now I know not to expect any sort of continuation of the story of the OT...

  5. G0-T0 - might die, depending on your choices in the HK factory

Really? There's a way for him to not die?

For my two cents, I think Peragus is a good place to start out and get your first few level-ups - I also enjoy the general atmosphere there, actually. I don't really understand why people would want to skip it any more than I understand why people would want to skip Taris.

  6. I completed my analysis and it's worse than I thought... Anyway, here are the quick results (I'll post the full analysis later):

The following areas use the same ambient music:

Taris Sith Base / Shyrack Caves / Korriban Tombs (makes sense for the last two though)

    Taris Hideout / Temple Summit

    Taris Sewers / Leviathan

    Manaan Sith Base / Dreshdae

Sandral Estate / Ebon Hawk / Anchorhead

Dantooine Ruins / Unknown World Temple (makes sense)

    Dune Sea / Yavin Station

Sand People Enclave / Unknown World

The following areas share the same battle music:

    Taris Sewers / Yavin Station

Endar Spire / Taris Sith Base / Korriban / Leviathan (makes somewhat sense)

    Anchorhead / Taris North Apartments

Dantooine Ruins / Unknown World Temple (makes sense)

Sand People Enclave / Unknown World

    Dantooine Crystal Caves / Shadowlands

Starforge / Mystery Box (also makes sense)

The following areas are actually missing ambient music:

    Governor's Chamber (Taris Sith Base)

    Dantooine Crystal Caves

    Valley of the Dark Lords

The following ones are missing battle music (You probably never fight in some of these, so that's no big deal):

    Gadon's Quarters (Hidden Bek Base)

    Ebon Hawk

Swoop Registration / Cantina / Czerka Office

And then there are some tracks in ambientmusic.2da that are not used in any modules. They might be played with scripts or they could actually be unused, I don't know.

mus_gui_start (this one plays in the main menu I think)

mus_theme_carth (This one is apparently played in the cutscene where you are captured by the Leviathan, so triggered with a script)

    mus_bat_out

    mus_bat_valsith

    mus_bat_sforge

Could be this one, but I haven't checked the original file yet:

With all of that information go ahead and post suggestions for improvement :D

Awwww, you beat me to it.

There are definitely some bits that make sense, as a sort of theme. For instance, a lot of the Sith locations have the same music tracks. In addition, the theme that plays on the temple summit and in the Taris hideout is labeled so that it seems to be Bastila's theme, so that makes sense as well.

And of course, several of the areas with shared themes only appear a little bit (or at least the themes will), so they're probably less of a concern. The Taris Apartments/Anchorhead fight theme comes to mind - each will only show up once in the base game.

Just my two cents, but I kind of like the lack of ambient music in the Valley of the Dark Lords. With just the sound effects, it makes a pretty nice atmosphere for the barren valley.

And you DID miss one. The Upper City Apartments and Hidden Bek Base share the same theme.

  7. You sure that's the right one? Not seeing any changes to model L - still all PFBL as far as I can see. Although that would explain why you weren't seeing any effect in-game.

    Okay, time for some questions:

    1. Do you run KotOR Tool as an admin?

    2. Open a .2da file and immediately save it to the Override folder. Is the file actually there in your Override folder?

    Hrm.

I could have sworn that before when I exited and then later loaded the 2DA up, the changes had stayed... but now they're all gone.

Changed to running as admin and will now save the .2da in a separate folder, then move it to Override, so that I can make sure the copying works. Will report on my success or lack thereof when I get to testing it.
