None. But I was able to fix the problem!
I did it by copying the saved game to my Windows 7 computer, installing KOTOR 2 without RCM, continuing to the surface of Telos, then copying the saved game back to my Win8 machine. I wasn't sure if it was Windows that made the difference, so I installed TSLRCM on the Win7 edition and tried loading from the same saved game. I got the same crash. Anyway, it's back working on Win8 and I haven't had any issues since, so I uninstalled KOTOR 2 on the Win7 machine so I wasn't violating the EULA.
Just for some context, at the time of the crash, I was very far dark-side alignment, male, if that makes any difference. I can't remember what I told Atton in the force cage on Peragus; I was told that made a difference as to whether the clip showed Carth or Cede. Before the crash I could occasionally hear Carth say a few words, but the screen was black when he spoke (it had faded from the image of the back of the NPC's head when I chose to board the shuttle to the restoration zone).
