Just a Weilard introduction

Recommended Posts

Hello. First off all - apologies for my scrap version of english. Isn't native for me. Secondly... hello folks. I'm here to asking few questions about modding of KOTOR I. As I understand, game has no good and friendly level editor. So, I can't just open the scene of level interesing me, replace some textures and models, and click "save" option. So... If i'm not mistaken, replacing of models and textures it's not so easy task. So... if you help me jump in the right place (forum destination where I can ask my questions) I will be really appreciated.

If speak about personal details... I'm nice guy, love drawing art, pixel-art and some articles in my free time. My regular job is games. I work in game-industry almost 20 years. Sometimes I tired from this and back to old times of old good games... and modding something. Just for myself. Here I am for same reason. Just want replace some things in KOTOR I (only visual).

One of my bad sides... I'm totally not technician man.

Welcome to Deadlystream Weilard!

You might want to download Kotor tool.  It does allow you to look at each level and extract files to edit, textures are usually fairly easy, but I don't know much about models.

And you may learn a lot by finding mods that do what you want to learn, then you can see how they did them.

Kotor modding for textures works like this:

Use kotor tool to find the texture name, create a texture, place new texture but name it the same as the vanilla texture, and place your new texture in the override folder.

Be sure to check out the Tutorial Section on Deadlystream, for advice on how to replace textures, among other things!
