Fixing the "companions don't talk or follow' bug

So I recently ran into a bug with my KotOR 2 play-through that causes Mandalore and Kreia not to follow the party anymore or be able to interact and talk. This seems to be a known bug from my research and in my case seems to be caused by a save game occurring at a moment where the NPCs are set in a 'passive cut-scene mode' - namely during the second fight with Vrook after the battle of Khoondar. I have not been able to find a solution so  far but I refuse to believe that this problem cannot be fixed. All that would be required is to reset the companions to their original script set for behaviors or that this passive mode be disabled. 

So since there is a lot of scripting and AI stuff being done here, I would like to know if anyone knows which scripts to reset or remove from the game to fix this.
