Save screen crash on Peragus

After having originally played KOTOR2 on the Xbox and drooling over the RCM from afar, I managed to snag the game the first day it was available on Steam. While it's a long story I finally managed to install the TSLRCM last night, and powered through Peragus. However, as soon as I hit the cutscene after everyone is on the Hawk, where the Harbinger chases the ship and Peragus gets exploded, the "save" loads about a fifth of the way and freezes. The game does not respond as if anything is wrong when I exit out of it (still shows as "do you want to leave, okay/cancel"). If I start up from the last autosave, it takes me to that screen. If I start up from the save just before boarding the Hawk, it still happens. TSLRCM is the only mod I have installed.

So the question is:

 

1. If this is a known bug, how can I bypass it?

2. If this is not a bug, what is it and how do I fix it?

Try disabling the movies in the launcher - not sure if you can do this with steam version. You can then watch the movies either from the game, game files or youtube.
