milestails Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Anyone play Jade Empire: Special Edition for the PC? I want to try another BioWare game that will run on my PC built for older games. From the looks of it, JE hangs on the very edge of what my PC is capable of. Sad, I know. Quote
ThatDearGuy Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Yeah, sure. A fine game. A bit linear though, and evil vs good doesn't affect the people/world as much as it does in Kotor2. But still a very nice game. It's a pre-shader 3.0 game, so it will very likely run on many dated systems. The maps are medium to large, but no immediate area you are in is extremely vast. Yet at the same time they've filled even the smallest areas with the most beautiful vistas. The graphics can still be tweaked down, so I was able to play it even on an old laptop. I haven't been able to finish it more than maybe twice. You see, while there are a lot of things you can do / gather, most of it has little to no effect on the gameplay itself. The combat and camera modes on the other hand were a refreshing break what Bioware had been doing up to that point. Pretty fluid stuff. Paved the way for what they eventually did with Mass Effect, maybe. Quote
milestails Posted March 3, 2012 Author Posted March 3, 2012 I picked it up for around $11 with free shipping on eBay. Definitely like what I see so far! Quote
