  1. In the mean time, I'm still wondering about glitching out-of-bounds at Yavin. Is that something that can happen in a vanilla game?

  6. Happy new year, everyone.

To start things anew, I've wanted to finish some older mods and finally squash some persistent bugs in the process. Does anyone know where Kotor adds the feats to a character after creation or party members after a certain amount of leveling? Is it done with a 2DA file, or is it via script? Is it some totally different method not mentioned?

Yeah it won't tell you anything. Hence why you need to read the manual.

The readme PDF that comes with TSLPatcher should explain it all. But yes, if you want to edit dialog.tlk then you need to create your own append.tlk with the strings you want to add. Those strings get assigned tokens in the ini, so you can patch whatever other files you are installing to use those strings. As the name suggests, you can only append new strings, not edit existing strings. So if you want to change vanilla strings then you need update any references to your new ones.

They can't be scripted in K1, as I said earlier. That function was only added by Obsidian in TSL.

Hrm, I remember there was a hex edited version of one of the game's DLLs when Win 7 first came out. Might be that I suppose.

I have the Steam and GOG versions (like you, originally bought in the hope of resolving modern OS issues) and both still have plenty of crashes. For any extensive mod testing I resort to playing either game on an old XP machine.

Hah, nah the opposite. Some of the calls they used were depreciated even at the time.

JC - Looks like that column is used for a couple of rows in TSL. Maybe for the player, not sure.

Getting it on Steam should make zero difference. It's the same game, just with different DRM. If you must buy a new version I'd suggest the GOG version at least, since that is standalone.

TSL's feat.2da adds the companions in as separate columns presumably for this specific purpose, so I'd guess you are out of luck for K1.

I'm not sure if it will be possible to differentiate party members from the player that way, aside from the droids. They all use standard player classes.

Edit: I see there is an "exclusion" column in feats.2da that appears to be unused. Uses a bitmask flag, but not sure what it would specifically reference, or whether it would do what you want or the opposite. Maybe @JCarter426 would know more.

Feats can be added via script in TSL but not K1. I assume the actual adding is hard coded and only done at level up. Or you just destroy the creature outright and re-add it via a new UTC. Although obviously that's not really practical for party members.

There should be 2DAs for handling what feats get assigned via auto levelling.

  14. I might have a good Christmas gift for you all this year.  Have you been good? Keep washing those hands and wearing those masks and Santa-Cron will leave something for you on his YT channel. (This will likely be better than a M4-78 documentary for most of you. )

  21. Ok, so I'm trying to update one of my mods and when the file upload reaches like 5% upload I get an error saying "-200" and after the file is just grey with "Upload Failed" written underneath it.

Does anyone know what this is?
