So, a long time ago, on a site called KotOR Files, I had uploaded a lightsaber mod that did some stuff, and it seemed decently popular. Except it was also partially broken, so I made an updated version, but it had never gotten approved for whatever reason, and was only available by people finding my email in the readme and asking for it.
Well, now, I have decided I should probably just upload it here, even though I'm sure there are probably better lightsaber mods out there these days.
So.
Here you go.

 

This mod will primarily add a few new color crystals for your lightsabers. It adds Cyan, which looks looks similar to Mantle of the Force, but is a little different, as well as non-unique. It also adds orange, viridian, bronze, silver, black, and white. Additionally, it will add a a new color exclusive to Bastila based on her concept art, using a fixed version of Gavroche's mod. The second major feature is replacing all the lightsaber textures with higher quality flickering ones, using Shem's Prequel Sabers 2.0 and Mono_Giganto's flickering blades mod as a base. A few side-features of this mod are making the yellow crystal more yellow, and changing the icons for blue and Heart of the Guardian sabers to better match the blade color.

 

An expanded TSL version is (slowly) in the works. The "Old Heavily Incomplete Expanded TSL version 'WIP'.rar" file downloadable from this page is an out-of-date WIP build, with some outdated ideas of mine. Pretty much ignore it, probably.

Released

  • Version 2.5:
  • Added several color crystals to the Crystal Caves on Dantooine, but the black and white ones can only be acquired from Uthar Wynn and the Unknown World, respectively. (Courtesy of Fair Strides!)
  • Also included some optional alternate color textures, taken from my WIP expanded TSL version of the mod. I think they look nicer, myself.
  • Version 2.1:
  • Fixed two bugs in the installer, one of which was simply a minor inconvenience and the other broke the mod. Upcrystals.2da created the new lines, but it didn't fill them with any information. But it works now!
  • Version 2:
  • Changes from Version 1:
  • - Replaced all the saber textures with flickering Shem based ones, including all the core sabers.
  • - Added a new Bastila exclusive crystal based on her concept art.
  • - Fixed a bug where the double-bladed orange saber would appear cyan.
  • - There may be a few other small changes that I can't recall. I think I changed the viridian icon a little.
  • Changes from Shem's Prequel Sabers 2.0:
  • - They all now have flickering cores
  • - Made Heart of the Guardian and Mantle of the Force more resemble their original colors
  • - His unmodified versions of the above have been changed to Orange and Cyan, respectively
  • - Made Yellow, Bronze, and Orange brighter
  • - Several additional colors
  • Changes from Mono_Giganto's Flickering Lightsaber Blades:
  • - New colors
  • - New textures
  • Changes from Gavroche's New Colour for Bastila's Lightsaber (1.1):
  • - Added the ability to put Bastila's crystal in a regular or short lightsaber without crashing the game
  • - Fixed a bug where putting Heart of the Guardian in a double-bladed lightsaber would appear use Bastila's color
  • - Changed the crystal icon to match blade color
  • - Changed the saber icon to better match the color of the blade
  • - Changed the Blade texture to use Shem's as a base, and to flicker

I've used this mod before and I love it so much. The black blades are my favorite. However, what I'm wondering is what mod would that green Mandalorian armor and the red and gray Sith armor be from? They look awesome!

Exactly what I was looking for. Can't find anything like this for KOTOR1 now that Gamefront is down.

 

You even kept the original colors intact! Beautiful.

I do not remember, I took those screenshots many years ago. I probably found them on KotOR Files, way back in the day. I unfortunately do not still have it on my computer, so I have no idea. I do remember that the red and gray Sith soldier was intended to replace Sith grenadiers. Perhaps that will be helpful in tracking it down.

I'm this because I downloaded this mod a few months ago from an old link that I found. I just wanted everyone to know that there is a way to "kind of" get the mod to work with K1R. Now, while you cant obtain any of these lightsabers, or the individual crystals with cheats (through the console command), you can obtain the lightsabers (not the crystals) through the Kotor Save Editor (KSE). I figured out if you go to the KSE and select a save and then the inventory and load the master list. Scroll down until you find lightsabers in RED text, select them once to load their in game icon to see which lightsaber it is. Find the one you want, select add item, the commit changes. This will add the item to your inventory when you load that particular save. NOTE: You CANNOT modify the lightsaber by ANY means. If you try to modify the lightsaber with a workbench, the lightsaber will be deleted, where you will then either have to load the save where you had it, or re-add it with the KSE. If you want to increase the damage you deal with the lightsaber, use cheats (console command) to increase your strength. I just thought you might want to know that.

Forget I said this as apparently the version I was using was an older version and I thought it was the newest one. So yes it is compatible with K1R.

With the new update, is there a way to get ALL the color crystals? I mean, I've tried going to the crystal cave on dantooine, and apart from the white and black crystals (I know those are on korriban and the unknown world) I just found cyan, orange and viridian crystals, being left the silver and bronze.

Other than that the mod looks awesome! :)

Hey, I know this is old and probably won't get read or anything but I've just installed this mod and I can acquire the crystals but I can't equip them to my lightsabers. Does anyone know a fix?

Not sure what would cause this but i've come to find that using the silver crystal in a saber causes the violet crystal to bug out and appear silver, any help would be much appreciated.

Would it be possible to make a version that just ports over the TSL colours into K1 and adds them to the Dantooine Cave without anything else, like altering the blade textures or adding anything new like Bastila's colours, altering the yellow colour or giving them animated blades?

I really like all the new blade colors, especially the custom Bastila one, but I am honestly not digging the flickering, It doesn't look all that great in cutscenes, and I was wondering, have you ever considered doing a second version of the mod, or perhaps an optional file, that replaces the flickering with FX generated from the Saber plugin for After-Effects, aka the one used to generate the blades in the prequels? I know JC has a mod that does that, and a compatibility patch on either end would be nice. Aside from that, great job, and keep up the great work.
