TSL ORIGINS - Telos Overhaul 1.1.2

   (24 reviews)

11 Screenshots

About This File

Unlike its predecessor, the Complete Overhaul for K1, the purpose of this texture mod is to preserve the original look of the game,
while using different texturing techniques to give the old game engine a modern look, emulating shine & vector based animations from the Mass Effect series.

Im sorry guys that i cant provide screenshots at the moment, my graphics card is malfunctioning.

Installation:

Download the file, extract its contents with an archive extraction tool such as 7zip or WinRAR, and move the contents to the override folder for your game.

Enjoy!

If you are using Peragus OTE, install it before you install this mod. You get glitching texures on computer panels/consoles (The kind that is around the rock formation in the middle of the Peragus Administration level) otherwise. Alternatively you can just search the 3 conflicting files and delete the ones from Peragus OTE.

What is Peragus OTE?

Hi. In my steam version with this mod installed I experienced a bug with some textures in the TSF HQ on Telos. See for yourself in the attached screenshots: the textures of that "column" in the corner seem to be misaligned, as well as the wall and the bottom "ledge" ones.

telos overhaul bug0

telos overhaul bug1

Except for this minor issue, everything else looks marvellous! Especially the animated screens and banners!

Can someone explain why the XnView patch is needed? Can the patched files be uploaded instead of the originals?

Some of the textures need to be processed through XnView, otherwise they would appear either upside down, or have multiple textures for one area, like the hangar command console on Peragus

Couldn't the mod creator just upload processed textures? Or isn't it how it works?

Can anyone confirm what the Czerka desk sign is supposed to look like? With the txi from this mod installed I get an animated but pixelated and scrambled sign. Without the txi, it's just the hi-res tga from "Czerka Sign and Desk Enhancement".

Is there a single link available anywhere for this mod ?

Or an easy way to grab the links and put them in a downloader ?

There's a few mods like this with multiple parts and the only option to download them is a bit convoluted.

In an attempt to save this mod... here are some REAL instructions

It's actually very easy so don't freak out

Let me start by saying, the file that he calls "Part 10" is actually named "TELOS Extract Manually". Yes, the one without all caps is part 10

1) First up, you will need a program that the author clearly believes everyone should know about for some reason... I certainly hadn't heard about it until now

Called XnView. Download it from here https://www.xnview.com/en/

We won't use it 'til the later steps, we're just getting this out of the way now. Don't worry, it's less steps now than the initial instructions make it seem. I assume thats for an older version

2) Download all RARs from here

3) Extract the two RARs called "EXTRACT MANUALLY" and "TELOS Extract Manually" (this second one is "part10") and manually copy or move all their contents into KotOR II's "Override" folder

Yes, we're doing part 10 out of order. It's easier for us this way as these are the only two folders out of the bunch that we can handle like this. This is only because the author obviously forgot to add it in the initial upload

4) Now, Extract the contents of parts 1 through to part 11 (with part 10 missing obviously as we've already done that) INTO A SINGLE FOLDER!

What I mean by that is, don't just make a folder with the folders inside for "TELOS Part 1", "TELOS Part 2" etc. All the contents from each RAR need to be in the same single folder.

Note: For some reason, when doing this, there was a file or two that needed to be overwritten. I'm assuming this due to some sort of update the author made

5) Now we're moving on to the XnView stuff.

Open any one of the extracted files i this new folder we've made with XnView

For me, it opened full screen for some reason so if that happens for you, just press escape.

You should now see all the files in the folder in a viewing window within XnView

6) Select all the files by pressing Ctrl+A

7) With all files selected, go to Tools > Batch Convert

8 ) Set the output folder to KotOR II's "Override" folder and press "Convert" on the bottom right of the window

DONE. Enjoy! :)

Thank you very much for this. I too was confused and I regularly use Photoshop to batch convert files myself, so I should have no excuse. :p

To avoid burying your instructions (Though hopefully the author can pin it) I will be brief. Thank you for helping out with this, Av.

Jorak, I love your mods and hope to install them properly now that I know how.

Well made, except now all the aurebesh text on Telos which previously made sense is random gibberish, mostly just abcde or pqrstuvy, for a mod that obviously took alot of effort this is incredibly lazy. Would it have been that hard to type cantina, Merchant or czerka corporation, like they did for the original files..

I had the same problem. I uninstalled all of my other mods, with the exception of TSLRCM and M4-78 EP, and tried a fresh install following Avsynthe's instructions. After, I was still seeing glitching monitors / screens and missing textures.

While I did install both halves of the mod to the workshop override folder located at: steam/steamapps/workshop/content/208580/485537937/override; eventually, I solved the problem on my end by also installing parts 1-9+11 to the game's override folder located at: steam/steamapps/common/Knights of the Old Republic II/override. I don't know why that did it, but it did. Hope this helps.

I am using the Steam Workshop version of TSLRCM, and a the latest version of M4-78 EP downloaded from this site.

Hmm, I never had an issue with this mod before, but with the most recent update, it seems to have broken stuff. I am playing with the same list of mods as I always had on a fresh install since I have upgraded my PC, and I am not sure what to do. Transparency, black textures, sign glitches. Very odd for me as at worst, it had some transparent texture issues, but the flashing signs is very distracting.

This looks stunning - it's an amazing Telos revamp! So much more detail, but still the same flavor... If I didn't have a pending $200+ purchase taking higher priority, I'd be finally ordering a PC copy of TSL for myself for this alone.

Hopefully when I do get a copy, this will play nice with my graphics card.
