1. DESCRIPTION:

In vanilla KotOR 1, Twi'lek NPCs have very limited variety of designs. This mod aim to diversify the appearances of Twi'lek female NPCs, by giving the named Twi'lek female NPCs different looks instead of the generic NPC looks to set them apart.

The Twi'lek female NPCs affected by this mod include:

  • Lena, messager of Mission's personal quest
  • Malare, messager of Bastila's personal quest
  • Zoriis Bafka, swoop racer on Tatooine
  • Casandra Mateil, swoop racer on Manaan
  • Zeena on Manaan

The unique appearances of these NPCs are created by utilizing the Twi'lek textures from K1 Enhancement Pack, which has been released as a modder's resource.

In order for this mod to take effect, you must load a save before meeting Lena and Malare, and before visiting the Tatooine Swoop Registration and Manaan Ahto East for the first time.

I do not change the appearances of Lyn Sekla and Janice Nall from Taris, because ebmar has created amazing mods that overhaul their appearances, which I recommend:

2. INSTALLATION:

Extract the K1 Twi'lek Female NPC Diversity.zip archive you downloaded to anywhere you like, as long as it is not within the KotOR directory. Run Install.exe, point the installer to your KotOR directory, where swkotor.exe is located, and let the installer do its job.

I also provide upscaled versions of the Twi'lek textures as an optional installation. After installing the main part of this mod, go to the "Optional - Upscaled Textures" folder, drop the files into the Override folder in your directory and overwrite files when prompted.

If you use the NPC Replacement component of DarthParametric's K1 Thigh-High Boots For Female Twi'lek Body, I have also provided an optional installation to make Lena and Malare's boots match the other female Twi'lek boot models edited by DP for visual consistency. After installing the main part of my mod, go to the "Optional - DP's Twilek Thigh-High Boots" folder, drop the files into the Override folder in your directory and overwrite files when prompted.

NOTE: When you install this mod, a new folder named "backup" may be created by the installer in the same folder as the installer. Do not delete the folder or the file within the folder if you are planning on uninstalling this mod.

3. UNINSTALLATION:

If no backup folder was created when you installed this mod, go to the Override folder in your KotOR directory, and delete the following files:

  • appearance.2da
  • heads.2da
  • g_lena.utc
  • g_malare.utc
  • man26_casandra.utc
  • man27_zeena.utc
  • tat17_04zorii_01.utc

If a backup folder was created when you installed this mod, go to the backup folder, cut and paste any files from the folder and paste the file in the Override folder in your KotOR directory, then delete the rest of the files listed above that did not have a backup copy.

Regardless if a backup folder was created when you installed this mod, if you want to uninstall this mod completely, delete the files with the "llk" prefix that are used by this mod from the Override folder in your KotOR directory. See READ ME.txt for the list of these files to be deleted.

4. KNOWN ISSUES:

None currently known. If you find any bugs or problems, please let me know.

5. MOD COMPATIBILITY:

This mod is not compatible with any other mods that modify or change the heads of Lena, Malare, Zoriis Bafka, Casandra Mateil, or Zeena.

This mod does not replace any vanilla Twi'lek textures and models, so this mod is compatible with mods that retexture or remodel vanilla Twi'leks.

This mod is compatible with KotOR 1 Community Patch (K1CP).

This mod is compatible with KotOR 1 Restoration (K1R).

6. PERMISSION:

You may use assets from this mod as part of your mod, however, both SpaceAlex and I should be credited accordingly, with SpaceAlex being credited as the original creator of the textures as part of the K1 Enhancement Pack modder's resource.

7. CREDITS:

SpaceAlex for the K1 Enhancement Pack modder's resource
DarthParametric for the K1 Thigh-High Boots For Female Twi'lek Body modder's resource

Do you know if Dark Hope's twi'lek texture mod changes the same NPCs, or is that safe to use along with your own mod?

As noted under the Mod Compatibility section on my mod's page:

Dark Hope only changes the textures of vanilla Twi'lek NPCs, so Dark Hope's textures are compatible with my mod.

They should be compatible. NPC Diversity mod isn't finished yet, and the current version doesn't modify any of the same NPC as my mod does, but if the future version of NPC Diversity mod does, you need to install my mod after NPC Diversity to overwrite NPC Diversity's changes.

It isn't compatible. First, some Tw'leks have miscolored hands. Also, it turns the Lower City Citizens in Javyar's Cantina into male and female Twi'leks! And yes, I installed K1CP, the tweaks, and then his Onderonian Fashions and Smuggler's Deluxe before I installed your mods.

That would be due to my male Twi'lek NPC Diversity mod not changing the bodies of the Twi'lek NPCs. I may address this in a future update

I just tested my mod with NPC Diversity and KOTOR 1 Community Patch, and loaded a save before entering Javyar's Cantina, but the citizens are still human in my game. Maybe there's something wrong with your installation? Did you get any warnings and errors when you installed the mods?

I also installed JC's Jedi Tailor, Revan's Hoodless, Maskless Robes,  Onderonian Fashions, Smuggler's Deluxe, Lite of my Life, and the K1 Unofficial Tweaks Pack. I also installed Effix's Taris Dueling Arena Changes and the Taris Dueling Arena Adjustments mods. Nothing else I can think of that would affect Taris.

Here's the errors I got with the male mod. Got none in for the female mod:

@JasonRyder

Warnings about skipping .MOD files are normal because that's just the way newer mods set up to ensure mods are installed correctly if you don't have .MOD files in your game's Modules folder. You got those warnings about skipping .MOD files when installing my male Twi'lek NPC mod because you have installed KOTOR 1 Community Patch first.

Also, when you encounter issues with mods and you're asking for support, it's best to list ALL the mods you use, not just the ones that you think affect that area. There's always a possibility that a mod you think do not affect that part of the game was indeed the cause of your issue.

These are all the other mods I'm using with your Twi'lek NPC Diversity mods and it looks like your mods aren't the issue. I didn't install them in my latest playthrough and I STILL got the odd glitch. Maybe it's related to the two errors I got in the NPC Diversity Pack installation:

• Error: No instruction section found for file tar03_blackv038.utc, skipping...

@JasonRyder I also got the two errors when installing version 0.4.1 of NPC Diversity, but as I mentioned, I did not get the same bugs as you. That said, I had reported the installation errors to NPC Diversity's forum thread. Did you start a new game after installing these mods?

It's also possible that your order of installing these mods might have messed up the game. If you want to use a lot of mods for the KotOR games, installation order matters a lot.

You said in the comment section of my Human Xor Unique Look when you used it with NPC Overhaul that sometimes NPC head changes when you reload a save - does that happen in your latest playthrough as well? To be honest, I never heard of things like reloading saves changing NPC head, so I have no idea why such things happened in your game.

Yes. Still didn't work. I always seem to get technical difficulties no one can fix, much less explain. I feel like I'm cursed, but that isn't possible.

I doubt it's because I install the game in an external memory drive and use a physical disc and an external disk drive. And installation order is probably the issue.

No, it didn't see an NPC head change in the latest playthrough. Because I didn't use Kainzorus Prime's NPC Overhaul. Not using that one again.

UPDATE: I did a fresh install of KOTOR and ONLY downloaded the following mods in this order:

-K1CP

-Unofficial K1CP Tweaks Pack(Didn't install Lite NPCs Restoration and didn't put the Persuade fixes into Override.)

-NPC Diversity(All options)

-Ladies of the Sith Army

-Onderon Fashion

-Smuggler Deluxe

Did this and STILL got the bug where the Lower Taris Citizens in Javyar's Cantina appear as green male and female Twi'leks.

Found a bug where Lena is stuck in a T-pose and glides/hovers across the ground. Saw her on Dantooine. I've also installed JC's Jedi Tailor and Revan's Hoodless, Maskless Robes. I installed N-Drew and JC's mods before I installed your mod. I also installed InSidious's Lightsaber and Force Forms mod as well.

Edit: Removing the g_lena.utc file fixes the issue, but reverts Lena back to her default appearance.

That's because you installed the optional thigh-high boots component of my mod without installing DarthParametric's K1 Thigh-High Boots For Female Twi'lek Body, specifically the "NPC Replacement" component. You need to install DarthParametric's mod to for the thigh-high boots models of my mod to work.

Thank you, this worked perfectly!
