About This File

Summary

This mod adds a Trandoshan named Garassk who will tailor robes for the player and Jedi party members. He can change the color your robes to any of four options: brown, black, red, and blue. The items retain their stats, with only the appearance of the robes changed.

The tailor also runs a clothing store with infinite amounts of some generic outfits, plus a select set of armor, gloves, belts, and headgear in smaller amounts. Some of the armor he sells is new; files for the items already existed, but they were inaccessible in the regular game.

I've also given Garassk an extensive dialogue tree, so you can ask him the usual questions about the planet, and he will react to certain quest states.

To start, Garassk may be found in the hangar of the Jedi enclave on Dantooine. Later in the game, he moves to Anchorhead on Tatooine, down the street from the Czerka office.

You will need to start a new game or load a save from before you first arrive on Dantooine for the mod to take effect.

Installation

  1. Run Jedi_Tailor_K1.exe.
  2. Click "Install Mod" and select your game directory (default name SWKOTOR).

Uninstallation

  1. Remove the installed files or replace from backups if necessary.

Compatibility

This mod patches the modules danm13 and tat_m17aa and may not be compatible with other mods that affect those areas.

This mod includes an icon fix from my Mandalorian Armor mod. If you use both mods, or some other mod that fixes that icon, then you can ignore the warning about that file being skipped.

This mod is compatible with my Robe Adjustment mod, allowing you to change the color of the Apprentice Robes, but you must update the Robe Adjustment mod to version 1.1 or later.

This mod is compatible with my Cloaked Jedi Robes, Cloaked Hybrid Robes, and Cloaked Party Robes mods and includes a compatibility patch for the 100% Brown color option of those mods. It adjusts the tailor's dialogue to make all references to robe color consistent with the brown shades in that option (brown, black, buff, and grey).

The tailor will only recognize the original game robe items plus the variants the mod adds in the four standard colors. This mod may be compatible with other mods that add new robe items, but the tailor will only be able to swap around the old kinds.

The tailor will only perform for the player and standard Jedi party members (Bastila, Jolee, and Juhani).

You can try this mod after you finish KOTOR 2, then.

Will this work with your Cloaked Jedi Robes for K1 mod?

Yes, this only swaps around the existing robe items and doesn't mess with the models or textures at all. So it'll let you swap around the different cloaked versions of the robes as well.

There is a minor issue if you use the 100% Brown option, and I'll do a compatibility patch with the next version. It all still works, but if you use textures that change the robe colors all to shades of brown, some are still described as blue and red in the tailor dialogue... But everything else works.

Does this mod require a fresh new save before entering Dantooine? The tailor and kiosk don't appear when I load a previous save to Dantooine.

The kiosk still doesn't appear when I launch a new game. I am also running the Kotor restoration mod if that matters.

I haven't tested with that mod and I'm not familiar with most of its changes, so I can't say much. If you installed K1R after the Jedi Tailor, though, I would expect it to overwrite the changes, so it could be that.

Couldn't we make a K1R compatible patch?

Yes, but I have no plans to do so at this time. Eventually I'll probably play through the game with K1R and all my mods installed, but not yet.

Hello, new user.  First off, I love the cloaked robes mod, thank you so much!  Second, I installed the tailor after the cloaked robes, with having restarted the game as well as a fresh save before Dantooine (Davik's estate).  I'm still not seeing the tailor or kiosk in the hanger area.  Only other mod I'm running is Jedi From The Start.  Again, thank you for the mods and support.

Sounds like Jedi from the Start isn't compatible. It might work if you install Jedi Tailor after Jedi from the Start, but even then maybe not. If you send me your copy of danm13.mod I could verify how much of the mod installed and then see if there's a way to maybe make a hotfix.

Got it to work.  I had installed "Cloaks" first then Jedi From The Start, then "Tailor".  So I switch the order to Cloaks then Tailor, then Jedi.  Works fine now.

Out of curiosity, what file in the override would i have to edit to change Garassk's inventory? I have a few robe mods that I'd rather gain access to immersively, rather than via the cheat menu, and he seems like the ideal NPC to use fr this purpose.

The merchant files are jc_tail_storedan.utm and jc_tail_storetat.utm. They install to danm13.mod/tat_m17aa.mod but it's safe to install either or both to Override.

I've noticed an incompatibility with N-DReW25's "Remove Force Alignment Restrictions" mod.. If you get the tailor from this mod to change the colour of Qel Droma's robes (and presumably any other alignment restricted jedi robes), it re-applies the alignment restriction to it.

Easy enough to avoid by just not changing the colours of it, just wondering if there's a way those two mods can be made to work together. :)

That'd be because I had to make red/blue/black copies of it that are technically different items. The restriction would have to be removed from these items as well.

I assume that would have to be something the author of the force alignment mod would have to make a patch to do? Unless there's a way for users to do it manually. :)

Hi JC,  I've just started a fresh game with a bunch of your mods, and I think I screwed something up pretty bad.

I'm pretty sure the issue lies with either this mod or the Cloaked robes mod. I downloaded the Jedi Tailor and Garassk showed up just fine. I went to the grove, found Juhani, and came back to get my first set of robes from Zhar... except they were the old style robes. The Cloaked mod apparently didn't stick. I went to Garassk and had him change my robes from brown to blue, red, black- everything worked fine, except no cloaks. So I figured I must have forgotten to actually install the Cloaked mod. I closed the game, went and installed it (and the 100% Brown patch), and loaded my game back up....

- My robes are now entirely black. I think the texture file is missing, somehow.
- Zhar, Dorak, and Vrook's robes are also entirely black.
- Weirdly, they're the only Jedi affected by this- Belaya, Deesra, and the rest of the enclave Jedi NPCs have normal brown, blue, and red robe textures.
- Poor Juhani has lost her robes entirely, and is standing in the middle of the enclave in her skivvies.

I tried loading a previous save, I tried console commanding some different robes into my inventory, I tried replacing the textures with different ones, but nothing's working. And, like an idiot, I forgot to back up my override folder before installing the mod, so I can't do that. I'm completely stumped, and I would greatly appreciate some help...

This isn't an issue with the Jedi Tailor, as that doesn't affect the robes.

It sounds like you installed the gloveless option, which patches appearance.2da to change which textures the party and the NPCs you mentioned use, and then somehow removed the textures. Try installing the gloveless option again, or manually copy the TPC files over.

Hey, thanks! I'll absolutely do that...

... next time I lose the textures, because I was so annoyed by my fuckup that I went and uninstalled EVERY SINGLE MOD I HAVE and reinstalled them one by one. Oof.

On the plus side, mod's working fine now, so I have no idea how I did that in the first place. Thanks for your help!

In the previous version, if you convinced the families to reconcile, the Tailor would still talk about the families being at war. That is now replaced with a line about Shen and Rahasia's engagement for that ending.

For the record, this mod seems to be incompatible with the Dantooine Patch for DarthParametric's 'Diversified Jedi Captives on the Star Forge' mod. Once one is installed, the other disappears. This happened both when I installed DP's mod after installing this one, and also when I installed this mod after DP's mod. The danm13 module ends up only having one or the other depending on what was installed last. Please let me know how this can be fixed, as I really liked this mod and wanted it in my playthrough.
