This mod adds TSL's Brianna/Handmaiden as a selectable-player head for females in KotOR/K1.

 

# Background #

This was attempted by request of KohlKatarn from DeadlyStream.

 

# About this Mod #

Inside this mod are 2 choices of installation:

  • Main: Install TSL ported Brianna/Handmaiden as a selectable-player head for females in K1, including her original portraits that are ported from TSL
  • Optional: Install custom portraits to replace the original portraits that are ported from TSL

The textures are in TPC format and the portraits are in DDS format.

 

# Final Remarks #

This attempt was made easier with helps from DarthParametric's "Mira Player Head for K1" change.ini as the guiding hands; as without learning from his mod's setup, this attempt were not going anywhere lol.

Hope you enjoy the mod as much as I do!

 

Installation: Run the installer [TSLPatcher.exe].

Uninstallation: Replace the installed files with the files that are stored in the 'Backup' folder.

Compatibility: Will be compatible with most mods that are in surface by now. Potentially not compatible with other mods that tries to replaces the model, textures, portraits and messing with 2DAs rows of this installation.

Redistribution: You can redistribute this mod or re-release it on any website as long as it meets their requirement; you don't have to ask for permission, but I do appreciate all the kind intention. Also, if you are planning to use the assets from this mod to a mod you will be developing, don't forget to give credits to BioWare, Obsidian Entertainment, and LucasArts as inside this mod are their base assets. Anyway, credit to me is always a welcome, welcome. :cheers:

thanks. I'm a noob at modding and im trying to follow the "Changing a character model" to do it myself, it's safe to say i'm completely lost lol.

The part where it says "all you need to do for that is open them in MDLEdit while in TSL mode while also having the K1 supermodel in the same directory and then change MDLEdit to K1 and export the model again." I'm not sure what to do after that.

I'd prefer this step:

  • Assuming that you were using this version of MDLedit; open it and set the game target to K1 without having load anything. So you will have this view then [KOTOR1 / PC / Head Link].
  • And then straight to File\Batch\Convert_to_ASCII the targeted model. That way you will have a K1-ASCII version of the ported model.
  • Next, you will want to choose the File\Batch\Convert_to_Binary option to work with the previously converted TSL model, so you will have a working TSL ported model to be used in K1.

Let me know with the progress.

When I try to convert to ASCII, it crashes. "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information"

 

Edit:Nevermind. I had the file loaded before I tried to convert.

Ah- I am low-key expecting that; particularly if ones trying to convert TSL's PFBIM [caped robe model - female version], as far as I can tell, but I'm not sure with any other model than that.

So, as alternative you will want to use MDLOps instead. And when you open it;

  1. Make sure the target game set as "Kotor 1"
  2. Select the vanilla TSL model you want it ported
  3. Without changing anything choose the 'Read and write model' option, then you will have a K1-ASCII version of the ported model
  4. Back to the 'Select file', now choose the ASCII model instead of the binary ones, and run the 'Read and write model' again so now you will have a working TSL ported model to be used in K1
  5. Close the app, rename the resultant model to your liking [better to fit with the vanilla, perhaps you will have to delete the former so they will not conflicted]

i got the Atton head model converted, renamed it to pmha01 to replace that k1 head model, converted atton's clothing model and renamed it to pmbbs to replace the scoundrel clothing model, and the atton head model kind of sinks down into the clothing.

the animations don't seem to be working. I converted Atton's head and clothes and when I equip the clothes, the character t-poses. plus, when i start a new game with the atton head and the beginning endar spire cutscene starts, the head doesnt move.

Nice! One step forward on a successful porting attempt has been done. There are things still needs to be done afterwards to make a clean-tidy-zero-bug porting attempt; but with trial-and-error, it wouldn't be that far. :cheers:

Yeah, it seems Atton is rather a special-case. I have just experiencing some newfound things on his model; at least in my personal modding experience.

Anyway, you can save your time- if you like. Here's an ultra-dirty-work of my attempt porting his model. The body model will replace the default Scoundrel model [PMBBS] and the head model will replace PMHC05 [you could rename the texture/model to anything that fits your liking]: K1_Atton_as_Scoundrel.7z

I haven't include the DS transition and all his portrait. I believe you can do it yourself, and it is good for practice! Lol.

Edit: You will witness the odds from his mouth and teeth. I have no idea to fix that; more experienced and skillful Masters will need to chime in to solve the matter.

This is awesome! I was hoping someone would port heads from tsl, because I mostly prefer those over kotor. I don't suppose you'd take requests? I really like the PFHA04 head in tsl. If I had that, my kotor mod list would be complete.

Absolutely stellar mod! I've been using this on my latest playthrough of KotOR and been loving how well it fits. Unfortunately though the mod seems to specifically clash with Seikan's Armors of the Old Republic. The textures and designs fit over the model of Bastila's robes for female characters (including vanilla heads and other party members), but with the Handmaiden head it will use the textures on a hoodless Revan robe model instead. I've spent the better part of the day trying to figure out the root of the problem here but the best I can think of is that perhaps the armour mod isn't recognizing the head being it doesn't replace any of the pre-existing heads or something. I'm sorry if this is unfeasible but are you aware of any way this can be fixed? I'm curious if replacing one of the vanilla heads is the ticket here-- I'm just a bit lost about how and if that's possible!
