About This File

Saber&Melee Weapon Sound Mod

Author: DeadMan

1. What is this?
This mod will change sounds of lightsabers and other melee weapons.

Lightsaber sounds are replaced with more movie-like versions. The mod will not only replace ingame sounds, but also will add some variety.
For example, all lightsaber types (normal, doublebladed and short) now have unique set of sounds (not only on/off and ‘hum’ sounds, but also swing, parry and hit sounds).

Vibroblades, vibroswords, long swords, doublebladed swords and quarterstaffs also have updated soundsets. Vanilla game had only 2 (!) swing sounds for ALL melee weapons. With my mod it’s 3-4 unique sounds for a weapon type.

2. Why should I install it?
Why not? ;)

3. How to install?
Just run TSL Patcher, it will do everything for you.

4. Compatibility.
The mod is not compatible with other mods which alter saber sounds.

5. Credits.
Shem – I used some sound files from his Ultimate Sound Mod.

Conditions of Use:
Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES ANY OF MY MODS TO BE UPLOADED TO STEAM WORKSHOP.
Anything else - be my guest, use like you want, just give credit to me.

  • I've forgot to put one file in the archieve. Now it's fixed. You don't need this fix if you already had spells.2da in your override.

Does this mean since I've installed the Shem's Ultimate Sound Mod I already have these sounds?

Not really. My mod adds far more sounds and their varieties to the game.

I installed the Ultimate sound mod ( with the TSLpatcher thing ) and now I don't know how to uninstall it ... so I can install yours ... or I can just overwrite it?

I Forgot to mention. I want to uninstall it because when I first got my lightsaber and switched it on, the "hum" sounds , as you guys call it, are staying in one place. I got headphones on and I can clearly hear the sound getting stuck in place behind me as I run forward

Ok so I got around and deleted the files that were in the data folder and the overwrite folder and installed your mod ... but both of these mods are so loud and hurt my ear ... Am I doing something wrong?

DeadMan, if I were to have both your mod and Shem's Ultimate Sound Mod, which would you recommend I install first?

Install my mod first, then install Shem's (overwrite conflicting files). This way you'll have Shem's sounds for single sabers, and my sounds for everything else.

Is this compatible @DeadManwith not only Shem's, but also @JCarter426's sound effects mod? :) a girl likes to have good audio quality as she's hustl-err-chea-err innocently playing pazaak after all *whistles innocently hiding cards she's using to stack the deck in her favor* ;)

You mean the one with sounds for various ranged weapons? Then yes, it's compatible.

How do I uninstall this mod?

I didn't like it at all, mainly the lightsaber sounds

Since it interacts with some .2da files, I'm worried that something gets messed up if I just remove the .wav files from the override folder

Restore backuped *.2da files (there should be a backup folder in same directory where you extracted mod installer), then delete *.wav files.

Unfortunately, it didn't create any backup folder during the installation.

Strange, since It created a installlog.rtf , like other TSLpatcher mods

I reinstalled my mod build so it's everything as it was before.

I'm sorry if I bothered you.

@DeadMan You're supposed to put the original UNMODIFIED 2da files inside tslpatchdata. Anyone installing this mod who doesn't already have those in their override will end up with a broken game.

I just double checked the files, all three 2da files are the UNMODIFIED original files within this tslpatchdata. Therefore, the cause of your issue is not stemming from the tslpatchdata folder, nor the installer's handling of the 2da files. It is possible that other mods are conflicting with this, or you may have not installed another mod correctly that did a similar thing (modified the same files). I'd suggest trying to get some help with a forum post, /r kotor post, or /r kotor discord channel, to find out what went wrong.

You're right. I accidentally downloaded the K2 version when I'm installing on K1. Apologies to the author.

This can be installed for K1? Will it work if I install using the TSLPatcher.exe?

There is a K1 version:
