This mod replace the default Ajunta Pall's Blade appearance with the "Legends" rendition.

Held by the Dark Jedi even before he fell to the dark side, this may be one of the few truly personal items owned by Ajunta Pall, and remains as thoroughly corrupted as he.

The blade of the fallen, Ajunta Pall's Blade -

Spoiler

"I am that which grips the heart in fright, hearkens night and silences the light."

I have always thought about something that is dark-enigmatic about the blade after hearing those words, so this project was started to accommodate the idea.

# About this Mod #

This mod replace the default Ajunta Pall's Blade appearance with the "Legends" rendition. The new blade is using the amazing IRobert's [K1] Vibroweapons replacement pack retexture base texture and model, which having that science-fantasy feeling to its design and concept. I edited them later particularly on coloring and scheming to match my interpretation of the blade. IRobert gave permission for everyone to freely use, change or modify the mod with *redistribution* policies applies.

* With v1.0.2 included the model fix kindly provided by the infamous Dark Lord of the Sith, DarthParametric. It's a fix for holes in the meshes of the hilt which causes artefacts with the shadow casting.

The new blade trying to fits the concept of the true Ajunta Pall's blade, which described as -

Quote

The blade of this sword is an ebony black and notched along its length to give it a cruel and jagged appearance. There is a strange visual effect upon the sword which makes it seem as if shadows pulse and ebb along its surface. It is very cool to the touch, and upon close inspection a small insignia of a dark circle can be spotted on its hilt.

Those features can be seen on the blade now.

# Final Remarks #

I suggest you to install VarsityPuppet's Spectral Ajunta Pall Canonical Appearance first and then install this mod after. This mod aims to complete the Ajunta Pall's personal items part.

There's always room for improvements - critiques, comments, suggestions, questions and feedbacks for the next update are much appreciated - PM, write them on my feed or leave any on the mod's page as you please. And thank you! for downloading, and playing this mod.

Hope you enjoy the mod as much as I do!

If you are to re-use an assets to a project you will be releasing, you don't have to ask for permission - but your generous intention is very much welcome. I'd love to know what others are up too, particularly if my work are included. And then, make sure to give credits to IRobert, DeadMan, seph6, RevanDark, DarthParametric, BioWare & LucasArts with the release - particularly with the inclusion of the assets. An appreciation to this lil' peasant work here is also a very warmwelcome, welcome.

What's New in Version 1.0.2b

Released

  • Included the model fix kindly provided by the infamous Dark Lord of the Sith, @DarthParametric. It's a fix for holes in the meshes of the hilt which causes artefacts with the shadow casting
  • Using higher-resolution to improve details in the textures. It is now scaled twice the size of the former
  • The texture now is in native in-game TPC format for better performance and efficiency, with zero-to-none quality differences to the former TGA
  • Restructure to the mod's figure and is using MOD/modular install as a whole
  • The blade model is using variation 37 now to match the module numbering [korr_m37aa]
  • Tweaks to the model selfillumcolor, so it now illuminates 100% white glow color for the blade part, whilst the former was set for about ~75% green [left-over from the original green vibroblade used as basis]
  • New! - Added Compatibility Install and Uninstall option exclusively for VarsityPuppet's "Spectral Ajunta Pall Canonical Appearance" and Rece's "Ajunta Pall's Swords Revamped" users

"I have always been a fan of your Review since what you did with Selven "Legends" / And now I have wowed again."

I don't think I deserve all that, but thank you. 😅I try to give my full opinion while still remaining a positive voice, which can be a rough balance depending on whom you're talking to. Thank you for being such a great sport about it. That's a rare quality.

"Mmm, wasn't it finished already? 🤔"

Unfortunately, there's still an issue where you get locked inside of the tomb and can't progress if you kill Ajunta's ghost, but Puppet's aware of it so hopefully, it will be fixed shortly. 🤞

"Actually, back then there was a plan to have the new textures show up along with the acquired notched steel sword, and it was for immersion reason. But it seems the decision to make it not was the right one."

While it makes sense on the surface, it breaks the game for a first-time player that doesn't know which sword is Ajunta's. However, having the textures show up afterward logically follows, since once the sword is identified as Ajunta's, not only its name but its description and stats change as well. So it makes sense that, especially with the stat change, the sword's appearance would change along with it. It helps to view it through the lens that the sword has been entombed for who knows how long. It's old, rusted, and broken; a shell of its former self (kind of like Ajunta himself, sans the rusted bit). But upon recognition, it has renewed purpose and restores itself (or Ajunta restores it if you'd prefer, though if I remember correctly, the sword is thought of as having a pseudo-will of its own) to its original glory, ready to spill the blood of the weak once more.

"I found a white glow suits better with the Spectral Ajunta, particularly with his glowy white eyes."

That was an aesthetic choice that I found rather odd. While originally looking quite intimidating, upon speaking with him, you can tell that Ajunta is in a very weak state. He seems as though he's in a daze, barely aware of his surroundings, and his spirit is struggling to hold on to its final moments of life, such as it is (which is BTW, why I really like your modified voice files for him (review incoming soon hopefully, I've got to work my way back to that point in the game)). Having his eyes a bit more grayed-out would have suited his character better I think, rather than having him look like he's a vessel of un-li-mi-ted pow-ah.

"Perhaps, with the v2.0 I can accommodate this fantastic idea as an alternative for the v1.0."

That would be really cool to see.

"Again, many thanks for the amazing feedback. These brilliant thoughts are very much appreciated."

Thank you for all the amazing work. As long as you keep making 'em I'll keep trying them out and letting you know what I think. 😁

Hey ebmar, not trying to rush you by any means, but could I get an ETA on the dark version of the blade? I'm making a build of the game for a friend and wanted to know if it'll be finished by the time he's planning to play it. Thanks.

Hi, buddy- I am so sorry I can't give you an exact ETA, because I've not yet working on it. But as time goes by I have gain an understanding that this seems to be harder than I thought looking at the fact that the blade is not lightsaber based and these two items are working differently particularly on how producing visual effects. I'll try to get you an update this weekend though.

Yes, I know that all too well. I tried messing with it myself and editing it in any meaningful way proved quite troublesome. Thank you for the reply and best of luck in your efforts.

You're welcome, and many thanks for the kind words! We'll see how this turns out. :fingerscrossed:

Update: Hi, @JustABitAgroed! Apologize that I can't seem to get the result that we wanted; to change the current blade's effects to behave like a Darksaber is just out of my current knowledge I must say. I have tried to change the color to playing around with the Cubemaps but still can't reach that desired result. But I've come up with a replacement for the hilt to the blade part.

  • It will make the blade part looks more like a pigmented black blade, which the former looks somewhat like carbons the way I see it. Hope it somehow effective:

Sorry to hear that but thank you for trying so hard. I'll check out that file as soon as I get the chance.

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but it doesn't appear to change the blade at all.

No you're not doing anything wrong, it's just I should have told you before that the change that was made is not significant, as there's no retexture done with the last attempt. It was only some alteration to how the blade reacts to the light so its blade would looks more like a pigmented-black-blade now. Apologize for the inconvenience, and I'll see if I can comes up with another idea. 😁

"Thank you for the heads-up and you're right about it - as I have noticed of that also recently. By the time I have gained the appropriate modelling skill -as you may have known that the actual model isn't a work of mine- I'd be more than happy to be able to fix it at some point."

I's a really minor thing. This definitely has a permanent place in my override.

Oh wow, I came here to suggest a color change to black only to find that the issue has been thoroughly explored. Not sure if it would be any easier now vs. a few years ago, so I'll 2nd the request anyway.

My other comment was whether you'd consider something similar for Bacca's Ceremonial Blade? Both are considered ancient during the events of K1, so I'd buy that they share some visual elements (the model), but from a gameplay perspective it would highlight both as the higher-level melee weapons they are meant to be.
