This is a mod for the award-winning game Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic [K1].


Well the day has finally come where I publicly release a mod; it only took 13 years of owning the game! While I have modded my own game extensively over the years, this is my first mod. It may be a bit rudimentary but hey, at least I got there in the end!


The origins of this mod started in my dislike of the default portraits which I thought were too bland, not to mention tiring to look at after years and years. So I endeavoured to replace these portraits with some of my own using mostly fan art collected from around the internet. Over the years, I periodically 'updated' these custom portraits with new images as I stumbled across them. This mod is simply a public release of my current crop of portraits for the first KotOR game.


The 'Default' folder contains portraits for all 9 main party members - Jolee, Juhani, Canderous, T3-M4, HK-47, Bastila, Carth, Mission, and Zaalbar. I have also included a file for anyone who has Silveredge 9's Darkside Bastila mod (which adds a line to the Portraits.2da file to use a different darkside portrait). HOWEVER, it's important to note that the darkside portrait mentioned is simply a copy of the one in the 'Default' folder and is NOT a special or unique version - perhaps something for a future update?


Move all the files from the 'Default' folder to the 'Override' folder located in your game directory. Repeat the process for any of the files you wish to use in the 'Optional' folder.


Remove all the files from the Override folder.


It should be compatibile with most anything, except other mods which alter partymembers' portraits. All PC portraits are unaffected by this mod.


Known Bugs:
None that I know of.


This mod is not be uploaded to any site by anyone other than myself. This is because I don't own the IP on the images - while it was me who went through the effort of compiling and editing the images for the game, the actual art belongs to other people.

Way to Fix Incorrect Animations?

Hello again everyone, I'm back with yet another glitch!

So after just recently purchasing a new computer, I took it upon myself to reinstall all of my mods for the first KotOR game. This time, I was absolutely determined to 'squeeze' every bit of content from as many mods as possible, manually ironing out incompatibilities as they arose. As I alluded to in my NPC glitch a few weeks ago, this was mainly editing NPCs in various modules by customising them to my liking and building upon the work of other mods (for my own private use of course).

Anyway, after warping to every module to screen for potential errors, I discovered a minor yet annoying bug in the Sith Academy. Basically, there are a few NPCs that are performing the wrong animation (in this case, the computer panel animation). This affects several NPCs in the corner of the main room (where Uthar Wynn is), a few more in the room leading to the Valley, and the torturer in the duel room (who should be casting force lightning instead). Now, in my limited knowledge of modding, I can guess that perhaps it has something to do with certain scripts contained in the .mod file but I have no idea if this is true or how I would go about fixing the issue for that matter.

Of course, I can only speculate as to what exactly caused this issue since my module edits were only NPCs; I never touched any scripts. It may have possibly been the NPC Overhaul mod in tandem with some other big mods (like BOS:SR or something) but I digress. Rather than trying to iron out the issue by reinstalling everything or retracting my steps, I'd rather just fix the problem directly. So to summarise, what I'm asking for is how to specify for a particular NPC to use a certain animation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

EDIT: All good everyone, I managed to fix the problem. For some reason, the NPCs in question had the incorrect script specified in their UTC file. No idea how that happened but as long as it's fixed!

NPC Cloning/Duplication in Certain Modules

Okay...in mucking around with several UTC files, I've run into a problem that's got me stumped. Basically, I was trying to edit the male twi'leks in Javyar's Cantina (tar_m03ae) to make them more 'individual' BUT it seems when I change the head of just one of the files (the Bounty Hunter next to Zax, for example) all the other male twi'leks in the module seem to copy that head without me editing their files at all. I can't seem to override this by using their UTC file and specifying a different head either.

What am I missing?


Missing Ebon Hawk Texture?

Alright, so I've been racking my brain over this missing Ebon Hawk texture in K1. Basically, I've been using Vurt's HD reskin of the Ebon Hawk for yonks now, but have only just noticed that on Korriban, it wasn't working. Curious, I looked through the mod and to my surprise and judging from the texture name prefixes, there were no Korriban textures. This was also the case looking through some other EH mods too, although some had a variation of a differently-named texture (V_EHawk). I double-checked KotOR Tool too and it was the same story.

Now, I can only guess that the specific texture is stored under a different name to the other textures but what is that name? Does anyone know?


HD Reskin for PMHC05

Having been on a K1 hiatus for a little over 2 years, I was astonished when returning to the game to find how poor the textures are for some of the PC heads, particularly PMHC05. "I definitely remember them being better than that!" I thought, but alas my memory has deceived me.

Therefore, what I am requesting is a higher quality PMHC05 texture for everyone to enjoy! To be honest, I don't even think it needs to be some ridiculously-sized HD texture (although that would admittedly be awesome!) but something a cut above the default is all.
