#55728 Knights of the Old Republic III Thread - Rumor Central

Posted by sEcOnDbOuToFiNsAnItY on 21 April 2017 - 03:04 AM

No it doesn't... TOR is not canon... just like K1 and K2... So they have the creative license to do whatever they want aslong as lucasfilms give them the green light... It would be more likely a K1 remake than a K3 IMO to make the story canon

Ugh. No. No more remakes. Please. If Disney wants to canonise KOTOR, it can canonise KOTOR. They don't even have the excuse of being worried about their new continuity since the KOTOR era is so far removed from anything in Disney's new verse.

Now, since SWTOR is... yaknow, still an ongoing thing, Disney is almost certainly going to want to capitalise on that by linking any new KOTOR to it... which sadly means it'd have to be chained to their absolute abomination of Revan, the Exile and related's treatment, unless they wanted to totally retool the entire setting. But I didn't exactly like any of Disney's other reboots of the various Star Wars eras, so that idea appeals to me possibly even less.

Basically, Disney's caused the situation where everything they touch in Star Wars fills me with ominous dread.

The problem I see is that a KOTOR 3... well, it now has to follow on from and/or incorporate SWTOR's take on it all. And, put bluntly, I hate SWTOR's treatment of the KOTOR material.

And on a related note, I've been substantially less than a fan of Disney's reboot. So, sadly, I feel a KOTOR 3 is now at the point where... well, it's simply too late in my opinion. I doubt I'd like it and I even suspect it'd end up infuriating me. :(

#51953 SWTOR-Style HK-47 for K1

Posted by sEcOnDbOuToFiNsAnItY on 11 January 2017 - 11:57 AM

The only difference between the HK-47/50 designs and the SWTOR/esque HK-51 is in the head if I recall correctly.

"Dear DarthParametric,

Would you be willing to hack off your HK-51 remodel's head and graft it onto the K1 HK-47 like the messed up psycho we all imagine you to be?

Cheers,

DarthSolous"

Welcome, good to have you aboard!

#50287 TSLRCM 1.5.6

Yeah, but TSLRCM is kind of a non-negotiable requirement for my K2 games at this point.

Easily one of the best things for the prequels. I'd be up for that.

#48050 Kotor Apeiron

Posted by sEcOnDbOuToFiNsAnItY on 10 August 2016 - 04:32 AM

Except that Galaxy in Turmoil would be competing with Battlefront, AFAIK there are no upcoming licensed SW RPGs that Apeiron would get in the way of.

Is it really competition if one of the 'competitors' is in fact devoid of many internal organs and limbs?

#46251 Disney executives unhappy with first cut of Rogue One

I wish I could say I was surprised... but I can't.

[Sigh]

#44855 Gamefront closing down on April 30

Posted by sEcOnDbOuToFiNsAnItY on 14 April 2016 - 08:13 PM

What about the SWBF 2 mods :( this is the last site where (at least I know of) they are hosted... It'd be nice if they gave someone else a chance to host the site instead of taking it offline :(

Is there any change of Deadlystream hosting Battlefront 2 mods?

#43747 Thinking of removing TSLRCM from the Workshop

Posted by sEcOnDbOuToFiNsAnItY on 05 March 2016 - 04:05 PM

I dunno about you guys, but ten years ago I hadn't heard of KotOR... so to expect me to have supported the mod ten years ago seems... unfair.

I use the 4CD version.

#43670 Thinking of removing TSLRCM from the Workshop

Ah right, "WinAuth".

For some reason I seemed to process it as "BlueStacks App Player", which I read about separately on this thread as not working, so I discounted it.

Right, that makes a lot more sense.

Sorry about that - moral of the story: don't read heavy threads when you're tired.

TL;DR version: 'Too Long; Didn't Process'

[Edit]: As an addendum/afterthought:

I can understand HH not wanting to deal with Steam (Although we've yet to hear back from HH on the WinAuth matter; it's entirely possible HH simply didn't see that). However I think that removing the workshop mod will punish the wrong people and will not meaningfully affect change. I am not familiar with how the steam workshop works; So is there any way to simply transfer authorship to Zbyl or someone else involved in the TSLRCM project?

You've already been provided an alternative.

You do realise that smartphones cost money, right? Quite a bit of money - generally those with less money are less inclined to buy something they don't want and will hardly use. This 'alternative' is now an expensive 'mandatory'. I don't have a smartphone and will likely be a long time before I do. Until smartphones become much cheaper, forcing people to get them to use steam trading is both unfair and exploitative.

You are basically judging someone over not having enough disposable income to just throw money at things they will hardly use or need.

On a side note: Personally, I don't think removing the mod from the workshop is the best idea because it would punish the wrong people.

#43016 Star Wars Episode VIII Production Trailer

Honestly no idea who Thrawn is (some Chiss general as far as I know?)

In terms of master plotters, Thrawn is 'The Sh*t'.
