Bao-Dur's Death

Recommended Posts

This is my idea for killing Bao-Dur when you go to the HK Factory:

After Atton says his line about Bao-Dur being missing, the screen fades to black and the shuttle movie starts. After the movie we see the shuttle on the docking platform close to the Military Base. Bao-Dur and HK-47 walk down the ramp. Once they turn towards the Military Base, they both stop. They turn around and there is a large group of HK-50s advancing,

Light Side or Non-force user:

Bao-Dur does nothing, He turns around and says "Make my sacrifice matter." He turns back around and starts attacking the HK-50s. HK-47 runs toward the base, the screen fades to black and HK-47 warps to the entrance of the HK Factory.

Dark Side:

Bao-Dur uses fury *and force jumps at the HK-50s (If he has a lightsaber). HK-47 runs toward the base, the screen fades to black and HK-47 warps to the entrance of the HK Factory.

Yes I know this not restored content, but this would work well as an add on to TSLRCM.

Only problem is that HK-47 can't raise his weapon to the HK-50s and vice versa due to the self-preservation programming.

You would still have background sounds, not a clear VO line.

Or can you fix that too?

If so, interested in extracting some sounds from Kreia's Fall? ;P

Tons of them. I remember thinking at one point it might be better to have the party attack Atris at Malachor instead of Kreia in the core as a pseudo red-herring. Seemed kind of stupid though after Bead and I thought about it more though. Like a really cheap trick.

It shows how much was cut when half the stuff in the audio demo was cut. After hearing Atris's line on malachor, are there any Atris as Traya lines in the games files.

5 out of, what, 50? Your maths need work.

Is there actually enough there for her to completely replace kreia at the core with full VO, and that sounds like azkul teaching you the force

No, and no.

If you're interested in the lines, may I suggest;

There are a few more with Sion scenes that aren't added with this mod though.

Gaah, I couldn't remove the music 100% without making bao sound like he's constipated. veryangry.gif

I did manage suppress the music a wee bit successfully, but most people would still find it jarring to have bao's speech have a sound track.

FTR, I'd consider using these lines in a mod, whether you voice it or not. Dialog & Plot > VO's

I'd get Logan's Bao-Dur voice guy to do that same line, but maybe add the radio equalizer to it. That'd be way better, I think.

I think Bao-Dur's death, in order to be functional in the game at all, needs to happen regardless of whether or not you activate HK or the HK factory quest.

As such, I would then argue that Bao-Dur needs to die some other way, not by helping HK get to the factory. Yes, I know Chris Avellone himself that's how Bao-Dur dies, but honestly people, unless we make the HK factory an absolute obligation in TSL, I don't think that fate is an option.

But I am in favor of him dying to save Telos in some form or another. How exactly, I'm not sure. Maybe he'd kamikaze a group of Sith Troops as they try to hijack the fuel lines? Maybe he's trying to protect the Ithorian's work?

Guest Bob Ta'aar

what about if he only dies, IF you do the HK-factory stuff? I think that would fit very well into the KOTOR ambiguity. I mean, in K1 you could even kill Juhani instead of saving and recruiting her.

and what about making a independent mod that adds the distorted VO-lines from the E3-video? kind of like an optional fix to install with RCM?

anyways, thanks for all your work. I can't wait for 1.8 :)!

Ehm, every single other non-included line (a whole whopping 4!) does have VO hidden on the disk. Actually, they are all (barring Darth Atris) already restored by TSLRCM.

I am not sure what the point is of a mod that worsens some TSLRCM VO lines.

The portion regarding Bao-Dur (possibly) dying as part of the HK Factory I would like to see but only as an optional add-on and not part of TSLRCM proper. VP, it does look like it would be a worthy inclusion for one of your releases - if not for Malachor VI, then one of your packs.

I once had my own work up on how to set up Bao-Dur's death at the hands of the HK-50's on Telos but unfortunately, it's saved on my home computer where I have no way of getting it. (Stoney probably has my most recent version of it.) I even had worked out what lines could be spliced in order to have as much of it voiced as possible and where to set up the cameras. (I pictured the shuttle that Bao-Dur and HK-47 used would land on the platform just outside the Czerka Underground Base.)

VP, it is interesting that by using the VO actor for Logan23's ROR - you're essentially proposing killing the Bao-Dur before he can appear in the sequel. If the same VO actor voiced both instances of Bao-Dur, I'd find that somewhat amusing.

Since when has continuity in star wars ever mattered before?

Probably became official with the New Jedi Order series, but the 1st UE writer, Zahn, was a good friend of Stackpole, and so they tried not to make characters that changed the idea of the other one. So you could say they also started-it. Of course, some writers went out of their way to do things strange (move a whole fleet, for example), not to mention the 3 biggest jokes of SW: the Clown Wars series :P, the Force Unleashed, and Jar-Jar Binks!
