Windows 7

I'm thinking about finally upgrading to windows 7,for the most part do the KOTOR games run without xp compatibility mode or is it needed? Also does anyone know if ktool still works properly with it?

I have KoTOR and KoTOR Tool installed on Windows 7 and haven't had a problem with either of them - I haven't even had install the fix.

Can't say for TSL as I lost my disks months ago.

Actually lost is the wrong phrase - I still have the disks I just have no idea where they're currently residing.

Got Win 7 64-bit. Should give you your solution ;).

Only problems (I don't use compatibility or .dll fixes);

* KOTOR1; Remove the intro movies (physically delete them) or the game crashes for me at startup.

* KOTOR2; When loading the game, and then a save you have to alt/tab to get screen instead of blackscreen. Also anytime cutscenes have run ingame and no loading screen is after it.

But that's about it.

No compatibility mode needed. Ktool's fine.

64's working fine with TSL and KTool. K1 will run fine without the video's.

Statement: That's better than any of them being cracked like my play disc :wallbash: .

Answer: As far as it working with Windows 7, I installed it on my laptop that has Win7 and have had no problems. I never even saw that thread on lucasforums. The only problems are the crappy integrated graphics. Things don't look as good as they do with everything at max settings.

Kotor 2 works better on Windows 7 than on Vista for me. The only thing is that I can't get the movies to play at the correct resolution. I gave up trying...

It doesn't crash on 7, while it did in Vista.

Bah, the whole Windows charade has been a tragedy from the start, what with all the bugs that just pops out of nowhere all the time. If only MAC was more compatible...

If only MAC was more compatible...

And not so highly priced.

To be honest, I've recently labelled Vista as, "The Antichrist."

Windows 7 was God's relief to humanity for the torture that it recently went through in the travesty.

As soon as I installed win7 it was like life got better. Things seemed brighter, colours were more vivid, life just seemed better.

In my opinion, as good as Windows 7 is, you just can't beat XP.

Well, I could not return to XP anytime soon. I am now addicted to the Aerial sneak peak function and the preview function in WMP 12. Also, it is very much easier to share files from one computer to another (even if it is still a load of sh*t), whereas I could not get this to work with XP. The only advantage XP still has over W7, in my opinion, is its increased compatibility with Star Wars Rebellion/Supremacy :P

xp was so much nicer, I agree, but 3 gigs of ram just weren't enough for me anymore ;).

on the topic:

k1, k2 and kotortools all work perfectly fine on my windows 7 ultimate system. including 1920:1080 widescreen hack (for both games).

only problems I encountered so far:

- everytime a cutscene-video plays, the game tabs out to the desktop, but you can just tab back in and everything is fine (on both k1 and k2)

- k1 crashed on some occasions during the endar spire part (always at the same few spots, but I managed to get to taris by playing those spots slightly different)

I have no idea, whether those problems are caused by win7, widescreen-hack or the multiple mods I have installed, though.

Good news so far ,I did a "default" install of TSL/tslrcm and no "new" issues because of windows 7 and I upgaded my video card at the same time. The only issue I've run into with any of the modding tools is I can't get perlscripts to work with mdlops anymore which sucks cause I can't mess with character model animations now.

Should have dual-booted instead, Stoney. Just in case something wouldn't work.

The ONLY problem I've had with K1 or TSL, is that in TSL the videos play at the smallest possible resolution, couldn't find a way to fix it.
