Problem with KotOR Restoration

Recommended Posts

I've encountered with one big problem during my last playthrough of KotOR involving a restored contend of the K1 Restoration mod.

Everything played fine until I got to the Vulkar base. I spoke with the security room guy and things began to get weird. With one line of dialogue I couldn't go further, the game told me there was an error with that exact line with an end or a continue, then with the dialogue line that unlocks the second level elevator, the text didn't show up but everything worked fine and I could enter the second level. The biggest issue starts when I enter in dialogue with one of the new NPC of that level. I can't see his dialogue lines, but the worst part is I can't even see my lines, and I can't choose a random one, so I get stuck in that conversation forever.

If it's of any use, I've tried translating every dlg file and mod file to my language (Spanish) with dlgconv in the case it was a compatibility issue, but it seems to not work.

Please, any help would be wonderful.

Can you please provide us with some screenshots?

Here are some screenshots I made : Screenshots.rar

The images are as it follows:

1) An image for the moment when the text doesn't show in the Security Guy dialogue.

2) The error that happens when you select the dialogue line "You better give me some information if you want to live".

3) The moment you open a certain door on the second level of the Black Vulkar base, a conversation with this new NPC begins, but there's no text shown.

4) When he ends talking and it's your turn to answer, there's no choices to make and the game keeps like in the image forever until I shut it down.

I think I've found out why some of the lines are missing from the dialogs. It's because somehow they are missing from the tlk file as well, and they are directly referenced in the .dlg files.

But I can't seem to know how to fix it on its entirety without reinstalling every single mod that I have or going one by one changing them. I don't know if reinstalling just the K1R mod all over again would fix the problem.

Also I don't really know yet the source of the "Conversation Error" that ends prematurely some of the conversations, or doesn't even give me the chance to have them (an example of this is with one of the consoles of the K1R vulkar base)

You must pay attention to the compatibility list for K1R, if you play with non-english version of the game try to use dlg converter, languages differences are the most popular reason of conversation errors, try to convert all possible files in your Override and Modules folder to english and your language. Remember to convert modules files to Modules folder and override files to Override folder.

Also, if you had copied the dialog.tlk file that was shipped separately with K1R that patched some vanilla stuff, that was an English dialog.tlk file. I'd need your dialog.tlk file to switch the language back to Spanish (it wouldn't change the actual text/characters shown, but it would make the game read it properly).

I didn't copy the dialog.tlk file that was shipped separately with K1R.

I installed K1R on italian PC-GOG version.

There are no problem until the Black Vulkar Base Sublevel (file tar_m10ab.mod) where texts are missing.

The DLGEditor shows the texts perfectly; nevertheless they are not displayed in the game. DLG Converter doesn't help.

Even I tried to extract files from the mod file with ERF Editor, to convert them with DLG Converter, to reimport them with ERF Editor overwriting. It doesn't work.

Have you to do something with my italian dialog.tlk to fix that?
