I have no problem with Disney, I just hate the greed part of it, why can't these damn corporations grow thru normal growth than thru aquisitions. Way too much consolidation going on.

Disney made Pirates, Prince of Persia, Alice.

Yeah, and the Pirates is the only thing I rwally enjoyed. Mostly because it reminded me of the Monkey Island series of quests (which was made by Lucas... hmm...)

Anyway, I don't think things can be much worse for SW than they're already. At least for the games. Because all modern SW games are piece of :censored: : TFU - nice idea, terrible realization (try to play Devil May Cry or God of War - that's how slashers are meant to be made). TFU2 - was a bit better in gameplay terms, but it was too short and the story sucked. TOR - it's not a game, it's MMO.

omg its happening , :( :) :|

I hope Disney treats Star Wars right, I'm not going to say whether or not this is a bad idea until I see where Episode VII goes but I will say I am now dreaming of Sora with a Lightsaber Keyblade in Kingdom Hearts III. I hope Disney treats Star Wars as one of their more mature franchises like they treat Pirates of the Caribbean (yes I happen to like Pirates of the Caribbean, sue me :P).

I have hope with Disney in charge. At least we'll be getting new movies instead of reshoots and special editions where Greedo shoots first.

On the other hand, I would hate to have some post RotJ stories retconned...

But overall, I'm optimistic

Disney made Pirates, Prince of Persia, Alice. Any more examples they do make proper adult movies?

Those are adult movies?!?

Not saying that the Star Wars movies are, though. Certainly the tone of the movies won't need to change much, but morally ambiguous stuff like KotOR2 seems totally out of the question to me now. Disney just doesn't do stuff like that.

Unlike god-forbid Indy fuckin' IV of Lucas and Spielberg.

Apart from 'nuking the fridge', I still don't understand why people hated that movie so much.

So all in all, I wouldn't count of off being a bad deal. Disney also made games like Split/Second: Velocity, which isn't all kiddie.

And they may throw a big fresh wind in LA, sweeping away bad SW-games and allow KOTOR3 and others to flourish.

To each his own. However, I find the idea of ever seeing KotOR3 now to be completely wishful thinking. It's gone, killed off to make way for TOR. Disney obviously can't be blamed for that, but I don't seem them reviving KotOR. Sure there are terrible things in the EU universe, but it seems rather harsh to throw out all out because there was bad stuff. Remember, the Holiday Special was the early days of Star Wars...

Not quite sure where people here think Disney is only kiddies and all bad from. Hate much?

Ha. I might ask you the same question :)

http://techcrunch.com/2012/10/30/disney-star-wars-gaming/

"CEO Bob Iger responded that the company is “likely to focus more on social and mobile than we are on console.” However, he added that Disney will look at console games “opportunistically,” using licensing deals to allow other companies to create Star Wars games for cosnoles."

Oh well.

Did you see the monkey-swinging part?

It's easy to just label internet forum posts as haters, but I think there's something behind this one. 'Kiddie' stuff or not, I think Disney is starting to treat their products with less care and more corporate attitude. The first Pirates was good, but it's steadily gone down hill, with them continuing to milk the franchise. I honestly think they're doing the same thing with Pixar movies recently (oh, they've got guns in Cars 2 now huh?).

Episode VII probably depends on who they hand it to. Here's for hoping it turns out good though.

I have given some more thought to this, it could end up being a very good thing. Maybe Disney will allow Obsidian to go back and fix KotOR2 finally or let them release the tools needed to properly mod the first two games. Who would like to see Disney make a trilogy based on the KotOR games? With the release of KotOR3 being a year before the release of the first film?

I mean, who can seriously imagine a character like Kreia in a plot produced by Disney? Yeah, that'll happen...

You do realize that Kreia and TSL are the only things like that in Star Wars, right? I mean, I don't really understand what you're so upset about, because nothing else in Star Wars is like TSL, and TSL isn't going anywhere.

As the LucasForums crew reminded me, Avengers then? Also a Disney movie, plenty of violence and destruction.

I personally didn't like it though.

Neither does LucasArts. Did you remember the whole rush, preventing content patch and taking 8 years before Steam release?

So it's actually more likely than before now with Disney than the old LA in charge.

And I hope after TOR no-one is as stupid as to return it to BioWare...

Apart from 'nuking the fridge', I still don't understand why people hated that movie so much.

I didn't even mind the nuke fridge as much. Here's some worse stuff;

* The flying monkey sequence as said before, magnetised skull only when needed, stupid fake enemies, red ant sequence, Shia LeBouf whenever on screen, old Marian and lets not forget the whole freaking Aliens thing at the end.

Can't get worse than that.

I think Disney is starting to treat their products with less care and more corporate attitude. I liked the first 3 pirates, but yeah, Pirates IV was pretty bad. I carefully keep thinking it's just a trilogy (like with Indiana Jones). Not that fond of Pixar becoming sequal factories now where the only made original films before with Incredibles II and Monsters II coming up. Can't tell if that's Disney or Pixar itself though.

Rapunzel was pretty good though.

So yeah, hit and miss all around. Which as track record, isn't that bad in modern days...

SHHHHH.... I don't want Disney to think of that until I work at LucasFilm...

I know I would be very happy if they did this. A movie about to KotOR2 would probably get a PG-13 rating

Not really as response to this per se so much as saying that it brings up the thought of new games. And in regard to games, Disney owning Star Wars is probably not a good thing. For years LA pursued the business principle of games that they would release only so many Star Wars games over the season, because they didn't want their published games to compete against themselves. To me this seems to have been one reason why we never got KotOR3, because while the KotOR3 project was cancelled before the release of TSL, it was a viable option for LA to pick the title up again later... Except that by then it would conflict with other Star Wars games planned for release, and I think that kept pushing KotOR3 back until its release would have conflicted with the planned release date for The Old Republic.

With Disney owning Star Wars, this actually gets worse, because Disney presumably also doesn't want to release games that compete with each other for the same customers. Now, games with Mickey and/or Donald probably won't compete for the audience of, say, Force Unleased 3, so that probably won't be a problem. However, Star Wars games could very well be seen to compete with games based on Marvel superheroes, which suggests to me that Disney would probably want to coordinate the release of such games for the same target demographic to not happen simultaneously. If that is a correct assumption, we can almost certainly look forward to less Star Wars games being published in the future.
