K1R gets a new name! KotOR1 Restoration & Improvement Project

Attention Deadly Stream K1R is receiving a name change. It is now known as the KotOR1 Restoration & Improvement Project. Why the sudden name change? Well as Sith Holocron pointed out to me the mod isn't pure restoration and thus the name change is appropriate. The reason K1RIP has custom content in the first place is to restore things that barely have any data left like the Czerka Offices on Korriban and to restore things that no longer make sense with the final version. Now we have 2 ways to go about the custom content/alternative scenarios and I would like the community to vote on it.

 

1. We can go with original plans and just use custom content to integrate it all into the game.

 

or

 

2. We can go with NewGame+ (if possible to script) so that that way those who want only pure restoration will just have to avoid NG+

This all seems a little silly, I would have just ignored SH. Yeah, it's not TSLRCM, but so what, K1 wasn't a broken game like TSL. In order to add some left out content, you're gonna need to do some extrapolation. If you don't like it, don't install the mod.

Yeah I lol'd myself when I noticed it but, I'm not superstitious so yeah but, if it makes you feel better it could be changed to K1RIMP. Yeah you are absolutely correct that K1 was not a broken game like TSL and I'm glad you understand my point whenever I say that for some of the cut content to make sense you need custom content like for example without a persuade option to persuade Bastila to go to Korriban how would it make sense in context of the final game. If we had just purely restored content that made sense with the final game then this mod would be nearly done. I'm not joking that is how little of K1's cut content fits perfectly into the final version. A lot of K1's cut content either almost fits but, not quite or has very little leftover, or needs other workarounds to fit. So you get where I'm coming from.

If the newly added content is incompatible with BoS: SR then no, you should not add it (except if it's better than BoS: SR, which is highly doubtfull). If it fucks up with canon lore, then you shouldn't add it ("Persuade: Yeah, Bastila, why don't you come with us in the Sith Academy, I'm pretty sure the sith masters there don't know your face."). There are no such things, right? Except for the Bastila part, I could live with that ("Random sith master: Look at this fallen Jedi, he's bringing Bastila with him! Better not to intervene with his doings.").

Not really. I just wanted to respond with a internet meme. I do that sometimes. Anyway if you want a compromise to allow your game to have cut content but, only content that doesn't contradict the final game and is just pure restored content then your option is to vote for NewGamePlus as moving the alternative scenarios and custom content to NewGamePlus would still allow that to exist but, you would only see it if you play NewGamePlus. So since I assume you would not play NewGamePlus installing BOS probably wouldn't hurt anything with a normal non NG+ game.

I would go for option 1, but make sure that it does not interfere to much with canon. And only implent it where it is absolutely necessary.

Now, now, when did I say that I wanted just pure restored content? I only said that I don't want it to make jokes with canon lore, like TFU 2 (expert cloners will understand) and The Clone Wars, for example.

Honestly, sometimes canon is meant to be broken, or ignored... Such as canonizing Revan's/Exile's face and gender. I'm pretty sure anyone who created their character differently than what has been canonized as Revan and Exile, is pretty much pushing that piece of canon aside.

Statement: Technically K1R is breaking canon anyways as what's being restored isn't in the actual lore. Just like BOS. So to have a canon game, you must play it unmodified. I just don't want to have this conflict with BOS.

To be more correct Kotor 1 break canon by itself 'couse it is allow player to fall on dark side) So I think new content is pretty good idea

 

But if you would like to do NG+ I think you should try to extend role sistem by adding some skills from Kotor 2(like pinned shot) and adding more force powers. Couse original game is simply disbalansed with owerpowered lightsabers
